Smith eventually succumbed to the intense hounding, giving way to Lange and Gonzalez. Lange eventually piloted his Tuf Racing-backed Kawasaki to victory over Gonzalez and Pro Source Yamaha rider Tommy Hofmaster, who also got around Smith. Smith held on for fourth ahead of Demuth, Denny Stephenson and Brad Hagseth. Bradshaw finished ninth. The 250cc main event featured old rivals Bradshaw and Henry, but Bradshaw found himself mixing it up with 125cc winner Lange, who beat everyone to the first turn.
