underneath Allen's YZ125 for second. Young manhandled the whoop section every lap on his way to the win. Randy Moon got around Simpson in the stadium section for fourth. Hochstetler shot out front in race two and gained time on Young with a strong run through the back sweeper on lap one. Allen ran third, ahead of Simpson. All fOUT riders were clearing the gO-foot double named "Hoss.· Young passed Hochstetler and pulled a heel-clicker on the last lap. Allen finished third again. In Supermini action, Luke Davie took the first-moto holeshot on his lone Suzuki, but Patrick Buell quickly moved out front. Will Little settled into third and kept his KX80 in contact with Davie. Yamaha riders Colton Davie, Derrick Miller and Corey Patrick battled closely for the fourth spot. Little passed Davie just before the white flag was waved and made a run at Buell. At the finish, Buell led Little and Luke Davie, with Colton Davie winning the dogfight for fourth. Again, Davie's RM80 had the horsepower in race two. He led Buell and Patrick through turn one. Buell passed in the next turn and masterfully railed the outside lines on his way to the win. Behind Davie, Patrick finished third over a closing Colton Davie. Little's fifth still put him on the podium with third overall. Clint Stagner topped the Youth division with a 1-1 sweep. In moto one, he posted a huge 40-second win over class newcomer Stephen Rawls. Matt Hamilton dropped Matt Peevy to fourth late in the race. Rawls held the point in moto two until Stagner doubled past. Hamilton ran third. Stagner came up short on the infield triple and used the cushion he had built up to coast to the win. Hamilton was unable to capitalize on the open track between himself and Rawls and finished third. Another fourth gave Peevy fourth overall. The 80cc D class had six of the nine riders signed up for the series. James Devilbiss passed early leader Christian Trammell halfway through the first lap and never looked back. Next, Trammell had to deal with Bruce Lee. The Yamaha rider doubled past, but Trammell powered by on a short straight. Brandon Devilbiss came in fourth. In race two, Trammell, James Devilbiss and Lee ran nose to tail in the early going. Lee lost contact when he fell in the stadium section. Josh Wynn moved to third. Racing for the overall on the final circuit, a lapper balked Devilbiss and gave Trammell some breathing room. At the line, it was Trammell over Devilbiss, with Lee moving back to third. Brandon Devilbiss caught and passed Wynn for another fourth. Kevin Gamble got the holeshot in both Hobby motos on his CR250, but he couldn't hold back a determined Jason Corbel. In race one, the pair swapped the lead until Gamble fell going over a tabletop. Duke De Spirito went to second. Gamble went after De Spirito but ran out of steam and settled for third. The second time out, Gamble held the lead until lap three. Corbel passed in the stadium section and pulled away on his RM125. A tiring Gamble held on to second, over De Spirito. Elizabeth Forehand held fourth until John Barber passed underneath in the last turn. CN Ceunty u... MX hrtl Fa_in, Florida Results: IleUber 14, ZOOl (bnd 1 of I) P/W (4·6): I. Joey Smith (ATK): 2. Oregon State Supercross Championship Series Rounds 3-4: Deschutes County Fairgrounds Sannan Sweeps Redmond Bv CLAV Mickelson, Matt Petz and Jamie Large, the top three 250cc Juniorclass riders. Sullivan slammed the competition in moto two as well to complete his two-class rampage. Mickelson, riding a Yamaha YZ426F, won both Junior-class motos. Sannan went uncontested in his dual 125cc Junior-class moto wins, as only Yamaha rider Brandon Kentner could stay anywhere close to him. Kentner, the son of former AMA National Four-Stroke Champion Rod Kentner, went 2-2 to garner second overall. Suzuki-mounted Costa (3-3), Shawn Huege (5-4) and Mike Stenzel (4-6) rounded out the top five overall. On Saturday, Sannan again faced tough competition in both classes. Tunnell, the lone Intermediate rider in the combined Before The Hill Junior/125cc Intermediate class, trailed Sannan in both motos, although both Sannan and Tunnell scored individual overall wins, respectively. Mickelson landed second in the Before The Hill class via 2-2 consistency, while Costa (4-3), c.J. Baxter (3-4) and Kawasaki rider Blain Snyder (5-5) completed the top five. Ryan Hopson and Chance Phipps scored Supermini-class wins on Friday and Saturday, respectively, but it was Phipps pulverizing the competition on Saturday in his 1-1 win, beating Hopson to the finish in both motos. Hopson went 2-2 to net second overall, ahead of Levi Bishop (5-3), Spencer Morgan (4-4) and Nick Dacus (3-5) in the day's largest class. Sannan's sweep was complete after his runaway performances in the 125cc Junior class, in which the Gran Prix Cycle/Sinisalo/Spy/Gaerne-supported rider again beat Yamaha rider Kentner and Honda-mounted Costa to cap off his domination of his two classes. Local riders Colton Waibel and Bax1er landed fourth and fifth at the completion. liGHT REDMO!'ID, OR, OCT. 19-20 TM-mounted Pete Sannan has been unstoppable this year in the 125cc and Before The Hill Junior classes and, at the final two rounds of the four-round Oregon State Supercross Championship Series, Sannan scored a perfect sweep. At the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in central Oregon, Sannan went eight for eight in his double-class decimations both days. Sannan was only headed twice in the two consecutive days of outdoor supercross, as Professionals Rory Sullivan, the winner of Friday's 125cc Pro class, and Ryan Leach, Saturday's 250cc Pro-class winner, finished ahead of the rider from Albany, Oregon. Sannan's first overall win of the weekend came in Friday's Before The Hill Junior class, which ran combined with the 125cc Pro and Intermediate riders. The 18-year-old Sullivan, who posted several impressive performances while riding a tfusaberg in the AMA Western Four-Stroke Nationals this Summer, shot out front in the first moto and remained there to the finish. Sannan trailed the lone Pro to garner a Before The Hill-class win, while 125cc Intermediate Aaron Tunnell finished third. Moto two was much the same: The Thor/Smith/Sunstarrrwin Air-backed, KTM-mounted Sullivan capped off a 1-1 sweep of the Pro class. Sannan, Tunnell and Suzuki-mounted Danny Costa, the second-placed Before The Hill-class rider, followed. Estacada, Oregon's Sullivan later came back to top the combined 250cc Pro/Junior class, again with a 1-1 sweep. Kawasaki rider Ian Warner, who made the six-hour drive from Enterprise, Oregon, finished second to Sullivan but ahead of Jeremy K a U a •• n e _ 50 _' NOVEMBER 28,2001 45
