freeze and crashed. I washed out in the corner, breaking my clutch lever off, so I couldn't start my bike again. So that didn't help a lot. "In the 125cc class, I got a good start in third and passed for the lead," Johnson added. "Demuth didn't have a great start, he was one of the fastest riders out there. I was keeping tabs on him. I pulled a three- or twosecond lead on him and took the win." Lange became the fourth different winner of the weekend, proving just how competitive this year's series will most likely be. Lange, on the Tuf Racing/Maxxis/Thor-backed Kawasaki, grabbed the holeshot of Saturday's 250cc main and led the whole way. "' got a wicked start in the 250cc main," Lange said. "I pulled the holeshot and was leading it until Bradshaw got past me. But I passed him back. I went on to win it. "On Friday I felt good with a thirdplace finish," Lange said, "but I believed I could've won. Saturday I prove it." As for Damon Bradshaw, his new career in Arenacross racing didn't get off to a great start, but the No Fear/Spy/M2R/Simple Gree'n-backed Yamaha rider did finish out the weekend on a high note and on the podium. "Last night wasn't that great," Bradshaw said after Saturday night's mains. "But we made a goal tonight to make the mains, after we did that we set to make the podium, and we got one out of two of those. "I'm a lot happier and glad to get through this first event," Bradshaw added. "Now I know what to expect. I am not sure it will be any easier now, but last night and tonight I learned a lot. I think it will get better as time goes on." FRIDAY Demuth, on the YZ250F, pulled the Powerade Powershot holeshot in the first 125cc main of the season and held on for the remaining 16 laps. Right behind him was Hofrnaster, who held down second throughout. Hagseth was able to hold onto third the whole race, as well. Even though the top three positions never changed, Denny Stephenson provided an interesting show, as he worked his way up through the pack, passing Jeff Willoh and Rusty Holland along the way. After a bad start, Lange climbed from 12th to fifth, while Johnson came from the back as well, finishing sixth. Chad Johnson put a nice pass on Willoh to take over seventh. In the Dash For Cash race, last year's overall DFC winner, Pedro Gonzalez, pulled a great holeshot ahead of Hofmaster. But, on the last lap, Gonzalez was taken out when he collided with Holland, who had gotten Up front, Demuth went after Lange and had a shot at the Canadian until making a move to pass for the lead, which resulted in a crash. Then Johnson went down with two laps to go, giving second place to Gonzalez and third place to Bradshaw. CN Vel8nnS MeIIIariai Audilwiu. Des Maines, 1_ Results: Nave..ber 2-3, 2001 Friday out of shape on another section of the track and smacked into Gonzalez head-on. Both riders were slow in getting up, while Hofmaster rode around Gonzalez to take the win. Holland returned in the 250cc main to pull the Powerade Powershot holeshot, but he was unable to hold on to the lead, as local Justin Brayton got around him. Brayton led the way for a couple of laps until Hofmaster got him and rode on to victory. Lange and Demuth also got around Brayton and then fought it out over second and third. Demuth eventually got around Lange to take second place. Lange held on to third, ahead of Isaiah Johnson, Stephenson, Willoh and Hagseth. SATURDAY Tom Kelly surprised everyone as he took the Powerade Powershot holeshot in the 125cc main on Saturday night, but before the lap was over, Gonzalez had gotten around him. Unfortunately for Gonzalez, his reign up front didn't last for long, as he bobbled over the finish-line jump, resulting in Isaiah Johnson, Kelly and Gavin Gracyk all getting by him. 125: 1. Midpack-starter Bradshaw had his best ride yet, finishing fourth ahead of Willoh, Gracyk and Hagseth. Stephenson was seeing green when the gate dropped for the Dash For Cash. Stephenson jumped out in front with Bradshaw right behind him. Bradshaw pressured Stephenson from start to finish in the four-lap race, but couldn't get around him. Isaiah Johnson finished third. Both DFC winners, Hofrnaster and Stephenson, donated their winnings to the ClearChannel.com Relief Fund. Lange jumped out to the early lead in the final 250cc race of the weekend, but Bradshaw flew past him in the rhythm section. But after rubbing elbows a couple of times, Lange got back by Bradshaw and motored away. However, Bradshaw's problems weren't over yet. Bradshaw got pushed out by Johnson and dropped back to fifth, giving Demuth second and Johnson third. Gonzalez moved into fourth.
