enjoying a solid lead on his CR250. For the next four laps, the running order remained the same. Moneymaker made up some time on Bond but never got close enough to challenge. Murphy owned the 250cc B class and styled to the win with room to spare. At the checkers, Bond took the Aclass win over Moneymaker; Murphy took the 250cc B win over Manning and YZ-mounted Eric Powell. In 16-24 action, Murphy carded fourth in the qualifier after battling with RM 125 pilot Jared Arnold. In the main event, Arnold and Murphy traded places, with Murphy getting the nod, netting Murphy third overall (and first B-class rider), behind Bond and Moneymaker. eN Henry Caunty Fairgnlunds Paris, Tennessee Results: October 6, 2001 [Round 51 Henry County Fairgrounds: Kenny Dale Orr was the victor In the Schoolboy class at the fifth round of the Midwest Challenge Series in Paris, Tennessee. 50 SHAFT: 1. After easily winning the 250cc B qualifier, Murphy gated second in the combined 250cc A/250cc B main event, behind Honda terror Jamaal Bond, who shot out of the gate like a guided missile. Within one lap, Bond was about eight seconds ahead of the field. B rider Murphy gated second on his YZ426F, ahead of 250cc A fixture Jordan Moneymaker, who gated poorly thanks to deep mud just off the starting line. Moneymaker was pressuring Murphy but could not find his way around the YZ. For three laps, Murphy held Moneymaker at bay, while simultaneously pulling a huge gap over RM rider Lee Manning, who was holding down second in the 250cc B class. By the middle of lap four, Moneymaker finally made an aggressive block-pass on Murphy to snag second and then set out after Bond, who was Luckily, both managed to get up; Stephan !=ontinued racing while Rivera called it a weekend. Pearcy took over the top spot and stayed there to moto's end. Keeping pace for most of the moto before backing off was second-placed Justin Myers. Rusty Evans, who stayed clear of the earlier mishap, finished third, followed by Derek Vusovich. Travis Eckert, James Straub and Stephan rounded out the top seven. In moto two, Pearcy and Myers went side by side into turn one. Pearcy had the inside position and came out of turn one with the lead. For the first half of the race, Pearcy and Myers were within five bike lengths of each other, and they were the only two in the class doing the big "Dustin Double" jump. Eventually, the MSR/Northland-sponsored Pearcy pulled away for the moto win, over Myers. Third went to Jason McTygue, riding with a heavily taped left wrist and hand; after he did not finish the first moto, McTygue started fourth and then passed Straub just before the switchbacks. Straub held down fourth place for the remainder of the moto. After being part of the lead pack, Stephan stumbled at the halfway point in the switchbacks and held on for fifth. Vusovich was in sixth for most of the moto, until Eckert went by on the last lap. Vusovich blocked-passed Eckert on the final corner to retain sixth. In the Over 30 Pro contest, Wade Morlock got to the first turn in front of everyone else at the start of moto one. Deremo was second, followed by Jimmy Lewallen, Rick Nagle, Danny Almond, Coleman Manchester and Ed Foedish. The pack came out of the wash section with Deremo in front. Then, after the switchbacks, Foedish passed Manchester for fifth. On lap two, Lewallen was feeling the pressure from both Almond and Nagle. Nagle passed Almond as the trio came through the rhythm section in front of the bleachers. Sean Cisco passed Manchester for sixth. Lewallen stumbled on the east side of the course, letting Nagle and Almond move up. Morlock made a couple of mistakes during lap three, enabling Nagle to catch up. Then Nagle went by Morlock just before the finish line. Manchester went by Cisco in front of the grandstands, and then passed Foedish as they came onto the start sweeper. Then Lewallen was his next victim, as Manchester went by in switchbacks. Almond slipped back a position, giving way to Manchester as they went around the first turn. Deremo had no challenges from the onset and took the moto win. "It has been a long time since a bike just fits and feels good, " said Deremo, referring to his newly acquired KTM 400 SX. Nagle finished second, followed by Morlock, Manchester, Almond, Cisco, Foedish and Lewallen. Morlock had the initial lead at the start of moto two. However, as Morlock was trying his best TT slide maneuver, his bike slid out from underneath him, also collecting Cisco with him. Then Manchester ran into the fallen Morlock. "I saw him [Morlock] start his slide and thought he could save it: said Manchester, "but then he went down and I had no place to go." The battered Morlock would resume the race and finish sixth. Deremo came out with the lead, followed by Almond, Nagle and Foedish. Rivera got out of shape off the "Tunnel" jump and went down. Rivera got up immediately and went after his bike, which was across the track. With the jump being a blind take-off, and even with the flagger waving the yellow flag, the rest of the class could not see where the downed Rivera was until they were already in the air. Kody Stephan had no-way of avoiding the running Rivera, and they both went down. n e _ s e Speedworld MX Park: Paul Pearcy pegged a perfect 1-1 performance for the 125cc Intermediate victory at the third round of the AMX Grand Canyon Series in Surprise, Arizona.
