Florida Gold Cup Series Dealer Support Series Round 6/2: Pax Trax MX Park STORY AND PHOTOS BY CRAIG JOHNSON AND ANGELA HARDEN BONNELL, FL, OCT. 21 he Lundys brought their new, red-hot four-stroke machines to Pax Trax MX Park and rolled over the competition. lack Lundy rode to 1- 1 finishes in the 250cc/500cc B class and his dad, John Lundy, took 1-2 and I-I finishes in the Over 35 and Over 40 classes, respectively. Then the two met in the Four-Stroke class, and lack took the overall with a 1-1 over Dad's 2-2. The competition was much harder for lack in the 125cc Youth and 125cc B classes, but he finished in the top five all day on his two-stroke machine. The weather was typical for Florida - low 80s and partly cloudy - as 362 entries took part on the tough course. Dan Truman got out front in the first 250cc B mota. Lundy, Mike Finnegan, Jesse Richards and Steve Dumond were a II right there. Lundy passed Truman at the long tabletop. Truman battled back going down the back straight. The two were side by side around the next corner, past the grandstands. Truman nailed the next corner to retake the lead. Richards moved to third, ready to mix it up with Truman and Lundy. Then Lundy outpowered Truman over the triple and regained the lead. Lundy pulled out a few bike lengths to take the win. Richards passed Truman at the same spot to take second. On the last lap, Richards and Truman made contact, with Richards going down. Truman took second; Richards remounted for third. Finnegan and Dumond rounded out the top five. Lundy nailed the second-mota holeshot, but Truman sneaked under for the lead. On lap two, Lundy passed before the S turn. Richards passed Truman by the start area for second. Truman repassed Richards over Mount Kline. The three stayed close, but the order was set. Finnegan and Dumond finished a distant fourth and fifth. In the first 125cc Youth mota, Shaun Skinner took the lead. Truman and Lundy took over very quickly, dropping Skinner to third. Cliff Badgett, Ryan Warren and Camden Cruz were fourth through sixth. Skinner dropped to fifth by matos' end, moving Badgett and Warren up. Truman lead the second mota, followed by Lundy, Skinner, Warren and Cruz. Warren moved qUickly to second and then to first, passing Truman down the back straight. At halfway, Skinner started gaining on the top two. Skinner passed Truman by the start area on the next lap. On the last lap, Skinner passed Warren in the same spot for the lead. Skinner won, followed by Warren and Truman. In the Women's class, Marissa Hampshire and April Hodges started the series trading overall wins. The two were tied in points going into last week's round. Hampshire has now won the last two rounds to carve out a sixpoint lead going into the final round. Jonathan Edwards pulled the first Over 25 holeshot; followed by Richard Layman, Jeff Lampe, Steve Dumond and Daniel Zullo. Brian Vernes moved to fifth over the triple. Lampe and Dumond made their move into the top two spots by lap two. Vernes made his way to third before halfway. Zullo, Layman and Edwards rounded out the top six. Vernes pulled the second-mota holeshot and led the entire mota. Zullo, Lampe, Edwards, Dumond and Layman were in the top six. Lampe passed Zullo over Mount Kline and set out after Vernes, only to crash hard on the last lap. Bernier passed livingston for third by the .end of lap one, and the top four were set. Jeff Snladach moved into fifth on the last lap. Hall led mota two, followed by Bernier, Cirrincione, David Collett and Snladach. Bernier and Cirrincione moved around Hall, and the three pulled away from the rest of the field. Livingston and Cale Flage moved to fourth and fifth after bad starts. Ricky Renner pulled out a win for the second week in a row in the 85cc (7-11) class.
