began doubling at halfway, but it was too late
to challenge Wilkinson. Anthony Wood ran
alone in third, ahead of Jack, Alabama's Phil
Sanders.
Wilkinson also got the mote-two holeshot.
Steverson went underneath Wilkinson after the
whoops on lap one. On lap two, Wilkinson
stalled his machine and Steverson rode to an
easy win. Behind Wood, Sanders placed
fourth, the first Over 40 rider.
Cycle Nation's Jordan Peeples proved
once again that he's County Line's fastest
rider. He swept all four motos of the 250cc
Money and 16-29 classes.
Veteran Ed Kiley put his RM250 out front
in the first 250cc Money moto. Daniel Young
overtook Kiley in the stadium section on lap
one. Peeples moved to second but then fell in
the stadium section. Suzuki jockey Brian
Young worked to second, behind his brother.
Back up and on the throttle, Peeples displaced
Brian Young and put his YZ250 on Daniel's
rear fender with one lap to go. With four tums
remaining, Young swung wide and Peeples

the B-c1ass title.

After years of trying and coming in as the
runner-up, Shane DiPasquale won his first
overall victory in the Forward Motion Hare
Scrambles Series.
Cycle's Gas Gas. DiPasquale latched on to
Kruger's fender through the grass track and
sneaked by in an off-camber tum. Yamaha
riders Brad Jones and Nathan Looney ran
third and fourth.

past Looney on lap three to hold down fourth.

the race. Looney repassed Kevin Long for
third on lap four.

Northrup Hits a Triple

MOUNT VERNON, IL, SEPT. 30
Jason Northrup came home from Arizona to
ride in the National Hillclimb Championships
and stayed long enough to make a brief
appearance in district hillclimbing. He made
his presence felt, as he came within one hundredth of a second of a four· win, Fast Time
perfect day at the King City Dirt Riders hill·
climb near Mount Vernon, Illinois,
Northrup took his first win in the 600cc
class, in which he new a Honda borrowed from
Gayle Jenkins high over the top of the 230foot hill in 4.031 seconds on his first ride. No
one in the class could get under that time, but
young Jared McKay was close, with a 4.059second run on his KX500 for second, and
Scott "Scooter" Sheets Jr. was also fast, with
a 4.081-second time on his CR500. Randy
Trosper and Andy Fortner finished fourth and
fifth on their Hondas.
Northrup's other two wins came on his
classy Husaberg 501. Riding in the Open Stock
class, his very quick 4.429-second time was
well ahead of Jammie Brown, who carded a
4.687-second run on his CRSoo. In 600cc fourstroke action, he posted a good 4.554-second
time to take the win, with his father, "Old Bud'
Northrup, running second on his ATK.
Young, Sanders came under fire from Karl
