close for about a lap, and then Monk began to pull a lead. Monk cruised the final straight and spectator double to victory. When mota two left the gate. there was no question of what was going to take place this time. Monk put his Honda out front and held the throttle pinned all the way to the checkered flag. This left Graham and Martin baWing for runner-up. Graham finally put his Honda in the wind and took the checkered flag in second. Monk came away with a 1-1 for the overall, followed by Graham (2-2) and Martin (3-3). Monk also repeated those 1- I perfor. mances in the 125cc A class. Due to the size of the track. they ran the 250cc Open A and 250cc Open B staggered on the track. In the 250cc B class, Kevin Yerby pulled a huge holeshot but later surrendered the lead to Sean Lecroy, who finished the day with a 1-1 score for the overall. Yerby went 2-2 for second overall. Mesquite Raceway: In Mesquite, Nevada, Kawasaki jockey Bob Alloy was the Over 60 Novice winner at the first-ever race hosted by SNOT - the Southern Nevada Old-Timers. in Over 70 Expert action, while John Webb was invincible in the Over 70 Amateur class. The Over 60 studs were led by Experts Philip Fris~ie and George Spearling, who waged war all weekend long, with Frisbie fmally getting the nod. Chuck Woody decimated the Amateurs, while Bob Alloy conquered the Over 60 Novices. Support classes also figured in the mix, Tun in a more traditional two-moto format. Tracon Kirk. Kyle Melehes and Jeff Murphy were all winners, in the 60cc, Support C and Support B divisions, respectively. Finally, Master A rider Mark Franklin and Master B competitor Bill Urban took home tro- phies, while Jim Williams used a tie breaker over Ted Jenkins to take top honors in the big Over 40 Novice class. The 250cc Open A class left the line with Monk nowhere near the front of the pack. Adam Brannun absconded with the holeshot, followed by Tommy Martin and Tony Graham, and the three looked like they were going to check out and leave the field behind. In a long, rolling whoop section after the start straight, Graham took control of the moto by passing Brannun and Martin. By lap two, Monk had worked his way to second after a fifth-place start, and he began his attack on Graham. It only took Monk one more lap to make his pass on Graham.
