"Basically, 1 got stuck on the hill with some lappers. " Garrahan said. "I was kind of stuck upside down, in the middle, and backwards. Next lap, on the same hill, I got stuck behind more. Towards the end of the race, 1 felt better and picked up the pace," completing the race in fourth place on the fourth KTM. Fifth place overall went to Sarge's Cycles/Suzuki/Pro Action of Kentucky/Moose/FMF/Smith-supported Dustin Gibson in 250cc A. He passed Shane Nalley on the fifth lap but had to stop several times for goggles and gloves. He said, "I got stuck last lap on a hill, and 1 was there for quite a while." Gibson topped off his fifth with a minute and a half lead on the next rider, Nalley. American Suzuki/Yoshimura/ Moose/Sidi/M2R Helmets-backed Nalley said, "I got a third-place start, and 1 was behind one of the Garrahan brothers. I was pushing hard to keep up, and P.A. was behind me. 1 let him by me and settled into my own pace. I would see them in spots on the first two laps, but on the third lap, the track started to tack up quite a bit, and it was a little more difficult. By that time, I had more trouble with the lappers because they kept getting stuck on the hills." Dylan Barnes finished in 10th place overall and took first place in the Four-Stroke A class. He was second or third off the start and tried to get into a smooth pace and not make any mistakes. "On the second lap, I was trying to double up on a hill, and it shot me into the next ravine," Barnes said. "I worked and worked to get out of there. 1 was physically exhausted when I did, but once I started riding again, 1 felt better. I thank God for watching over me today." Senior A winner Scott Martin claimed fastest lap for an A rider, going 24:56 during his first lap, and Mark Hosbach took second place in his class and had the fifth-fastest lap for the A riders. The fastest lap for a B rider was Alan Bender at 28:47, and Ron Skipper was the overall B winner, taking first place in the 250cc B class. Skipper said, "It was very muddy, and you couldn't get by anyone. There were lots of ruts and several big hills. On the first lap, I just worked my way up, took the lead, and stayed there from that point on."
