Come Be A Part Of The First Annual ..... board. The only time I could notice a glitch in performance was when hammering through a section of big, rolling whoops, or landing from jumps. That's when the TT-R would still burble and hesitate just a little bit. Otherwise, the TT-R ran extremely well. Overall, the motor modifications we made to the TT-R250 certainly didn't turn it into a WR426F-beater or anything like that, but it did make the bike feel livelier and snappier, without sacrificing an ounce of reliability and dependability - and that's exactly what I wanted . .) I was perfectly content with the TT-R's modified suspension, as well, which now felt more solid and sturdy while still retaining just enough cush to keep the ride down a long, rough road as pleasant as could be. Also, bottoming became less frequent and a lot less traumatic. These relatively minor modifications improved the TT-R substantialIy, making the bike more fun to ride than it already is, and installing the Baja Designs dual-sport kit greatly improved the TT-R's versatility. Be aware, though, that if you live in California, you cannot register the TTR250 for street use, since it is considered a "red sticker" vehicle, which technically puts this bike in the same category as, for example, a WR426F - or a YZ250, for that matter. This surprised me, since previous-model TT-R250s were, in fact, "green sticker" bikes, and thus could be ridden year-round and registered for street use after certain modifications were performed, like the ones we made to our test bike. So why the change from green to red? We really don't know, since the bike is, as far as we know, identical to last year's model. The folks we spoke with at Yamaha didn't seem to know for sure, either. Still, for not a whole lot of money, you can at least turn the TT -R250 into a fairly capable off-road machine or what we would call a "serious" playbike. Besides the exhaust system, carburetor and suspension mods, we put a few finishing touches on the bike that we wouldn't consider "necessity" items, but they are some nice add-ons, such as a skid plate, engine guards, wider footpegs and a new seat, which is, though, a borderline necessity. eN Stroker ] ] 1] 4 GAve., #2 Hesperia, CA 92345 760/948-287] www.strokerspeed.com Progressive Suspension 11129 GAve. Hesperia, CA 92345 760/948-40]2 www.progressivesuspension.com Baja Designs ] 85 Bosstick Blvd. San Marcos, CA 92069 760/560-2252 www.bajadesigns.com ..
