KX65-mounted Aguilar had the quickest reaction time out of the gate in moto one to lead Bright, Justin Eubanks and Kyle Smith. By the time the pack had completed lap one on the J.B. Memorial track, Bright had control of the top spot and was starting to inch away. Kellstrom, who gated around 10th, was up to fourth by lap two and closing in on Eubanks. Bright would end up seeing the checkers first. some five seconds ahead of Aguilar. Kellstrom got around Eubanks for third, and Sammy Ortiz put a last-lap move on Smith for fifth. Round two duplicated the first, as Bright passed a fast-starting Aguilar for the lead on the opening lap. Kellstrom got a beller start this time and dropped Aguilar to third place on lap two and set out after Bright. It took most of the moto, but when the white flag came out, Kellstrom was glued to Bright's back fender. Kellstrom was all over Bright on the final circuit and pulled next to his fellow KTM rider coming out of the final tum. Bright won the drag race to the checkers by a bike length for a sweep of the class. Kellstrom's 3· 2 tally topped Aguilar's 2-3 tally for second overall. Ortiz (5-4) and Eubanks (4-6) rounded out the top five. Garrell Warren dominated the first 125cc Novice molo right from the drop of the gate. Ricky Parks passed Travis Mehterian for second place, where he would finish. Ryan Riess was a close fourth, behind Mehterian. Matt Simpson, who encountered minor problems and could only manage an eighth in moto one, more than made up for it with a WIlY Do You RACE? "Enjoyment. It's fun, that's all. Riess. Parks and Warren entertained the crowd on hand with a close battle over second place that eventually went to Riess. Warren's close third· place performance was good enough for the overall win. Riess (4-2) was runner-up, fol· lowed by Parks (2-5), Simpson (8-1) and Mehterian (3·9).
