Come Be A Part Of The First Annual ,.... Sports' Clifford "The Flyin' Hawaiian" Adoptante by only half a point. Adoptante has been on a roll lately, picking up wins in Vans Triple Crown events and medalling at both the X-Games and Gravity Games earlier this summer. In Nashville, Adoptante held his signature move, the Flintstone (in which he jumps off the side of the bike, completely letting go, and runs alongside in midair), for an incredibly long time. His c1iffhanger-to-nothing was incredible, as the first portion didn't lose any extension in the combo. Like Rourke, Adoptante's worst finish of the weekend was a fourth, which came in Saturday night's Big Air contest. Skin Industries' Doug Parsons also had a solid weekend. Though he failed to win an event, he was always in the running and was also doing the flattest no-footed nac-nacs (in Drake McElroy style, only flatter). He was also kicking out big, stretched-out, scissor-kick can-cans, and he is one of only a few riders who can do the Ruler (an upside-down Kiss of Death. Parsons' best finish was the pair of fourths he scored in Freestyle and Big Air on Friday. Two nights of Step-Up competition produced two different winners. Metal Mulisha's Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg won on Friday after soaring 21 feet above the Nashville Auditorium floor. Stenberg edged out Ronnie Renner, who had just been taken out by the Metal Mulisha in a halftime-show chase. Renner had stayed free for a few minutes but was eventually ambushed by the Mulisha, allowing Homan to come in for the kill. The collision of the two bikes left Renner with a broken radiator, but he came back with a vengeance and won the following night by clearing the 23foot bar. Stenberg was eliminated early on Saturday, with KTM's "Cowboy" Kenny Bartram chasing Renner all the way to the 22-foot mark. Nashville's contest qualified Rourke, Adoptante, Adams, Parsons and Deegan to the Winter X-Games. Previous gold medallists who already qualified are Travis Pastrana, Mike Jones, Tommy Clowers and Bartram. Three wild cards will be announced soon to make the field of 12. CN ..
