nine left the former Spanish Junior Champion with two fives for the loop and out of contention for the win. Topor-Madry continued his rampage on the next two loops with his only lapse coming in section one of the final lap, but it only cost him a single point - giving him the win by a comfortable margin. Chaves added two more dabs to finish the day with 12 and second place. Carpenter stalled his engine again on the final loop, but wasn't as lucky as before. The resulting five and several odd single dabs left the Missourian with a total of 15 and third overall. "The, sections were tricky, but .obviously, all cleanable," Carpenter said. "On the third loop, I knew ihat I had David [Chaves] by three points going in. I took another two in section two and then I took a five in section five when I stalled my engine - and that was it." "There really wasn't anything big out there, but you had to really concentrate on wheel placement," Carpenter added. "It was another one of those events where you just couldn't put a foot down - and I did." Topor-Madry was obviously delighted with the win and already looking forward to the prospects of an assault on the 2002 U.S. National Series. "I am happy with a win here," Topor-Madry said. "I came to the U.S. to see if I can compete in next year's national series. I would like to return next year for the championship. I will practice this winter in Spain to prepare - the weather in Poland is not good for riding in winter." David Black was again fourth with Tulsan Ron Lee in fifth.
