the bottom and wheelied at the top, so we can go a little faster, but it was an okay first run." Bob Castledine was the last rider in the class. Thanks to team owner Tom Reiser, who let Castledine ride his bike after Casteldine's machine had problems, Castledine was able to check in with a 5.816, a tick behind Watson and Strank. The second round of the 800s was hard on the bikes and the riders. Thomas and Libhart had bike problems, as did Disbennett, who had a perfect run end two thirds of the way to the top when his Triumph blew the cylinders right off the cases. Strank and Bob Shreiner tried to dial in the setup for Strank's final ride, but it didn't work out like they thought. "We tried to lengthen it to get the front end to stay down, but the bike whee lied even worse on the second run," Strank said. "It felt like it was a lot slower, but I must have timed the breaker better because I ran a 5.546 to pass Dave [Watson]." Strank watched as Bobby Templeton ran a 5.855 for fourth, ahead of Ubhart, then Watson took his second run. "I hit the first breaker pretty good and then had to dangle my feet to force the front end back down," Watson said. "It felt fast, but it turned out to be a little slow, so I have to settle for second to Tiger." Castledine was the last rider of the day, but he could not gain any ground and took third overall, sealing Strank's fourth win of the year, which was good enough to clinch the championship. "I won four amateur National Championships, but they just don't compare to this," Strank said. "I can't hardly believe it. Bob and everyone worked so hard this year - he had the front forks reworked three times to get the bike setup for me and bullt new pipes and everything to get the bike working for me, and it all paid off today. Man, it doesn't get any better than this." eN Dctober 18 - 21 Fllur BBgS lit Infa e Mlltllrr:IlDle R8Din,lIlDtilln Series Finals for Championship Cup Series and the Formula USA Pro National Road Racing Series featuring Unlimited Superbike, Buell Lighting, Aprilla Cup Challenge, and 250cc Grand Prix.
