Horton worked his way up from a fourth-place start to push Wilburn all around the track. Wilburn bobbled in four on the nextto-last lap. and Horton was gone for the win. Jeff Johnson followed in third. Horton notched victories in both the Classic 250cc and 500ccn50cc mains. The Suzuki Twin rider defeated the Lessley brothers, on their 250cc Bultacos. In the 500cc/750cc race, Horton's 360cc Montessa with a swing- ing arm had a big advantage over McBee's ridged Triumph, as a few holes developed in the turns and caused McBee to lose traction. . The Wood family participated in the many Support classes, with Alex winning the 250cc Support race. National AMA Champion Andy won the Youth main and was the ringer in the XR event, where he held off a herd of fourstrokes for the victory. U.S. 51 MX Park Stum Stuns 'em By BROC MIKEL WAPEllA,IL, SEPT. 3 Monday is a day that many people do not look forward to. Many people have to go school or work. However, not September 3. On Labor Day at U.S. 51 MX Park, racing was ihe name of the game, as round four of the MX Extreme Series was held on this day. With track points up for grabs, the crew had the track in great shape. The news of the day was that Randy Trowbridge had a new van. It may have been difficult to tell, however, as the new van was the same color as his old one - which just goes to show that sometimes the more things change, the more they stay the same. One of the most dominant riders of the day was RTR rider Cody Sturn, who took wins in both the 65cc and 80cc Junior classes. In the 65cc class. his win came from hard work, warding off Mitchell Cornell and Dillon Hall. Cornell took second overall, with Hall third overall. In the 85cc Junior class, Stun's competition came from Justin Turner and Todd Kincaid. In the end, Turner ended up second overall. with Kincaid third. R.sults WMN: 1. Katie Mahannah. 50 JR: I.
