Bv MIKE VANCIL HOLUSTER,CA,AUG.26 M ike Vanlinden had his 650cc BSA tuned to perfection and was himself in fine physical form after a bout with tendinitis. He blew away all competitors on the historic Hollister TT track. The Santa Clara Riders Unlimited organization hosted their fifth annual TT re-enactment of an event held here many years ago. Marvelous co-operation between the Park Rangers and club members resulted in the finest track seen in years, and its surface was further enhanced by a visiting kart club, whose racers put plenty of rubber into the surface and widened the groove to nearly the whole width of the track. These were key ingredients to a fast track and one on which the AHRMA racers were comfortable, making for a spectacular day of racing. The first of Vanlinden's victories came in the Sportsman Vintage 601750cc class. In this event (as in all the others in which he competed), he read the starter well and got the lead going into the first corner. For threequarters of the six-lap heat race, Triumph 650cc rider Brad Spencer tried valiantly to mount a challenge, but he still ended up second. Tom Horton forgot to put in sufficient fuel and was out of contention before the first lap Now Available Through SUPERBIKES: The eNele news Video Theater ChaDl.pions~ Storg Behind the Scenes With the Casttol Honda Team During a Year of the WorJd Snperblke Championship (#1265) 2000 was a memorable season for Castrol Honda and their bid for the Chanlpionship crown.
