the 80cc (9-12) class, as 29 riders lined up at the gate. John Heinlein III piloted his KX85 to a huge holeshot in the first moto; Kyle Dehn and Trevor Tuma were left battling for second. Meanwhile, Kyle's older brother Bruce was in hot pursuit after an eighth-place start. He made easy pickings of the pack until it was time to challenge the front four. Tuma passed the younger Dehn for second and then set his eyes on the former Loretta Lynn's champion, Heinlein. Bruce Dehn made his way past Tuma and headed for Heinlein. Bruce pulled up to him in the whoops section and made his move in the corner right after by going low and cutting inside. . Both Tuma and Heinlein stayed within striking distance of the elder Dehn but were unable to catch him by the checkered flag. Kyle Dehn finished in fourth, close behind the front three. Brandon Skaare finished out the top five on his YZ. Bruce Dehn pulled the second-moto holeshot and ran away for the win, showing the speed that has him at the top of the Mini riders in Minnesota. The battle for second through fifth was a different story, as Heinlein did not get a good start and would have to earn his right to sleep in the house tonight. He would have to get past Skaare and Kyle Dehn, who had their own battle royal going, as the two swapped positions at least five times in the four laps, with Kyle coming out on top. All the while, Tuma was running in second, with his sights on Bruce, when Heinlein caught up to the red rider. Heinlein's patience and experience paid off as he pressured Tuma into making a bobble in the corner. Tuma did not go quietly, however; he put on a charge to try to retake Heinlein, but the clock ran out. After the finish, Bruce Dehn got to kiss the trophy girl. Heinlein was second, Tuma third, Kyle Dehn fourth, and Skaare rounded out the top five overall. In the 80cc (12-15) class, Tuma got his revenge and beat Dehn for the overall. It's a safe bet that these two moto warriors are going to square off many more times in the future. In the Over 25 A contest, Robert Halstead overcame bad starts to work his way to the front in both motos and take the overall win. Rich Burns took the runner-up spot with a consistent 2-2 finish. Jay Scherbring and Cody Bennett ended up swapping thirdand fourth-place finishes, with Scherbring coming out in third overall. That left Tony Ulrich in the fifth spot. Halstead also went on to win the Over 30 A class with ease, again ahead of Burns. The only double-class winner of the day was Brett Ohland, in the 125cc A and 16-24 A classes, on his South Metro/Trackside Performance/Factory Connection/Images In Motion-backed YZ. 217·623·4428 WWWlcountrymotor, sinclcom WHY WAIT?
