onto one gate, sending 11 riders into the first corner, with Dave Shade taking the holeshot and early lead, followed closely by James Marshall and Mark Gerloff. Kevin Lovell found Rob Locke hot on his heels for fourth. With Marshall challenging Shade from the start, Shade had no time to relax, as the Pro Circuit/Thor/Smith-sponsored Marshall hounded Shade's fourstroke. The running order went unchanged after the first lap, with Locke taking over fourth shortly into the second lap. Marshall was still right on Shade's wheel and it was obvious he had one thing in mind. On the third lap, Marshall saw a window of opportunity and jumped at the chance. Taking over the lead from Shade, Marshall continued his scorching pace. Behind the lead duo, Gerloff was beginning to get pressure from Locke, who had moved to within striking distance and wanted third from the HHR/CCRA rider. Locke made his move on the fourth lap, cracking the top three just in time to see the white flag come out. At the finish, it was Marshall topping the 125cc Intermediates, ahead of Shade in the 250cc Experts. Locke finished third, ahead of Lovell, who topped the 250cc Intermediates. Shade nailed down another holeshot, ahead of John Baker and Marshall, to take the lead early in the second moto. Baker had his hands full from the start with Marshall, who was anxious to pass the JM Racingsponsored Baker. Baker was able to hold off Marshall on the first lap, but when lap two rolled around, it was a whole different ball game. Realizing Shade was pulling, Marshall picked up the pace and took over second. Marshall had a long haul to close the ground between himself and Shade. As the third lap came to an end, Marshall had closed the gap on Shade, who was now within bike lengths of "The Outlaw." Behind the lead two, Baker now had his hands full with Locke, who was charging out of the pack. Locke was riding almost right on top of Baker, and took over third before the white flag came out. With one more lap to go, all eyes were on Marshall and Shade. The two were riding very close, but the battle was clean. Shade was able to hold off the charging Intermediate to take an uncontested win in the 250cc Expert class. Marshall's rides netted him first overall among the 125cc Intermediates. Heath Teague was able to pull down the holeshot ahead of Ken Fox and Conrad Erck in the first Over 25 Novice moto. Fox was qUick to challenge Teague, and the race for the lead was in full swing before the end of second lap. Teague and Fox pulled a little ground on third-placed Erck, but Fox never was close enough to make a move. At the checkers, it was Teague finishing ahead of Fox, with Erck in third.
