Next in line was Josh Demuth from North Richland Hills, Texas. Demuth won several heat races, one main event and one Dash For Cash. His 4-1-4-3 showing was good enough for second overall and a $750 bonus; he also made over $3000. Tommy Hofmaster was third overall. Actually, Hofmaster made the most money of any racer at the fair. His 1-5-3-4 finishes throughout the finals netted the popular Illinois native a cool $500 bonus, but he also happened to race a four-stroke and won both main events and a $200 bonus for top four-stroke rider. Add a win during Wednesday's Dash For Cash, and Hofmaster made over $4000 for two days' work. On Wednesday, Oklahoma's Chase Reed grabbed the start of the I 25cc Pro final. Ross Martin and Gibson followed. Hofmaster was next, and Demuth was around ninth. Reed led for a few laps. Hofmaster moved into second early on and made his bid for the lead at the end of lap three through the whoops. Then Gibson passed Reed, block-passing his way into second in a tight bowl corner. Chad Johnson moved into fourth, past Erick Vallejo, on lap six. As Johnson was passing Reed for third, the two collided and went down, collecting Vallejo, and all three hit the ground, with Johnson getting the worst of it. Ryan Clark sneaked by and took third at the finish. Demuth worked up to fourth. Hofmaster returned to claim the FourStroke win, ahead of Ohio's Michael Campbell and Illinois' Jesse Wise. Demuth grabbed the start of the 250cc final, with Dave Oettel and Clark in tow. Hofmaster and Reed were next. Hofmaster and Oettel bumped in the whoops and Hofmaster went down. Two laps later, Oettel went down and opened the door for a slew of riders. Gibson, who started poorly, was working through the pack, as was Johnson, who was now in fourth, behind Vallejo. Demuth cruised out front, with Clark trailing in second. Johnson passed Vallejo in the final laps to take third, ahead of Vallejo and Hofmaster. Gibson was sixth. On Thursday, Vallejo grabbed the start of the 125cc Pro final and took off. Gibson, Reed, Demuth and Clark followed. As Vallejo distanced himself, Hofmaster was busy working forward after a bad start. By the third lap, he was up to fourth. Demuth lost track of Vallejo and Gibson up front and was soon battling with Hofmaster to hold his position. The two went back and forth for several laps before Hofmaster got the upper hand. Vallejo took what looked like an easy win, ahead of Gibson, Hofmaster, Derymth and Oettel. Hofmaster took his second win on the four-stroke. Gibson grabbed the start of the 250cc final, with Reed and Demuth trailing. Johnson and Vallejo were next. Johnson passed Demuth on the opening lap for second. Hofmaster was once again near the back of the pack but working forward. By the fifth lap, he was on Vallejo's tail in fifth and was looking for a place to pass. Gibson took control of the race and was several seconds ahead of Johnson and Demuth on the seventh lap. A lap later, Hofmaster moved by Vallejo for fourth and was closing on c: Lake County Fair Stadium Motocross Lake County Fairgrounds Gibson's Gamble By The annual race takes place at the Lake County Fairgrounds on a custom-built arenacross-type track that favors fast and aggressive riding.
