AMA Pacific Northwest Championship Series Round 5: Washougal Motocross Park number 9S, Doug Lange, finished 12th in moto one but rebounded to score a moto-two victory, netting sixth overall. KTM-mounted Oregonian Jared Wood was the cream of the crop in the 60cc (7-8) class, posting a 1-1 tally that earned the diminutive speedster the overall win. Cameron Russell finished second to Wood in the class, but both riders trailed the winner of the 60cc (9-11) class at the end of both motos, eastern Washington rider Michael Schmeck, who smoked the competition in his class, also with a 1-1 tally, handily topping Kris Klein and Damien Walton. Another of the many eastern Washington riders to make the trek west was Yamaha-mounted Brandon Ritchie, who went on a double-moto rampage in the Supermini (12-1S) class to land the top honors, ahead of Honda rider Jesse Wuori and Ryan Hauck. The adjoined Supermini (9-11) class had Shawn Haberlock and Chris Johnson splitting moto wins, but the overall went in favor of the rider from Washougal, Johnson, via his win in moto two. Southern Oregon speedster Byron Young finished third overall (3-2). eN STORV AND PHOTOS BV CLAV liGHT WASHOOGAL, WA, AUG. 19 uzuki-mounted Californian Evan Laughridge was once again too much for the competition, much as he was at the series' opener, as the rider from Forest Ranch went on a two-class rampage at round five of the AMA Pacific Northwest Championship Series at Washougal Motocross Park. Laughridge swept all four motos in the 12Scc and 2S0cc Pro classes to snare the top Professional honors. It was Kentucky's Yamaha-mounted Jacob Saylor who came to Washougal and polished off the competition in the 2S0cc B class, where he squarely beat regular class dominator Joey Mancuso to snare the overall win, ending Mancuso's win streak. The opening race of the day was the 12Scc Pro class, but in the end the outcome was much the same as it's been whenever the Suzuki-mounted Laughridge has rolled into town. Laughridge ran out front on every lap of both motos to nab his first of two overall wins on the day, trailed by Oregon's Mike Corder, who placed 2-2 to net his first of two second-place fInishes, followed by Ryan Metzler (3-3), Kelvin Schoen (S-4) and Jeremy Scism (7-S). Oregon's Tyler Fick made his Pro-class debut, finishing sixth overall via 4-8 performances. In the combined 12Scc B class, local Yamaha rider Dale Ainslie went on a 1-1 rampage to decimate the competition, finishing ahead of Saylor, who could not duplicate his 2S0cc performances and finished second overall with S-2 performances, fInishing ahead of another local rider, Todd Blanchard (4-3). Joey Mancuso (2-S) and Kyle Versteeg (8-4) rounded out the top fIve finishers overall. Laughridge grabbed the lead on the opening lap of the first 2S0cc Pro moto and remained there to the finish, despite the looming advances from Team Green's Corder, who was Laughridge's closest competitor, finishing second, ahead of Suzuki riders Travis Murphy and Don Bisceglia, who were locked in a brutal battle for third until the later stages when Honda-mounted Oregonian Jason Matthews separated the two. Murphy snared third, followed by Matthews, Bisceglia and Suzuki rider Metzler. Bisceglia bolted to the front of the pack in moto two, but the veteran rider succumbed to the challenges of Laughridge shortly after the conclusion of lap one. Laughridge then held the point position to the finish, which was good for the overall win (1-1), ahead of Corder, who again charged WMN: 1. Tr8ci Fleming (Yllm): 2. Jenny Pray (Vam); 3.
