The Castrol Suzuki team won the 65th
Bol d'Or that concluded on September
16 at the Magny Cours circuit in France.
With the victory, the team also won the
SuperProduction World Cup. Cas·
trol Suzuki, the official Suzuki Endurance
race team, led from start to finish with
the team of Christian Lavieille,
Arnaud Van den Bossche and
Brian Laurent riding to victory from
pole position on their Suzuki GSX·
Rlooo. Second place, eight laps behind,
was taken by the Honda Elf team of
William Costes, Fabien Foret and
Sebastien Gimbert with Whirley
Phase One's Igor Jerman, Olivier
Ulmann and James Ellison finishing
third on a GSX·R 1000.

Reigning Formula USA National Dirt
Track Champion and 2001 AMA Grand
National Champion Chris Carr (H·D)
returned to his winning ways at a Sacra·
mento Mile that was packed with patriot·
ic fans on Saturday night, September 15.

rt main event and then went on to take a
victory lap, carrying Old Glory instead of
the checkered flag. Rich King (H·D)
and Mike Hacker (H·D) took second
and third, respectively. Carr appreciated
the audience interaction in the event.
"The crowd was great, I mean consider·
ing we were probably one of the only
motorsports events running in the whole
country, that we know of," Carr said.
"The crowd was real supportive. They
did a real nice opening ceremonies, and
they talked of the tragedy in New York
and Washington, and it was good for
everybody." The Pro Singles class was
dominated by Dan Stanley (Suz), who
rode past series points leader Terry
Poovey (Rtx), with Poovey finishing
second and Bryan Smith (ATKl third.
During intermission., local firefighters and
police officers were on hand as Grand
Slam
sponsor Roy Platte I of
1stLegal.com announced another $5000
contribution to the ClearChannel.com
Worldwide Relief Fund that has already
exceeded $750,000. Meanwhile, the
fans of the Sacramento Mile contributed
an additional $1853 to the fund. Formula
USA announced on Friday, a $5000 con·
tribution, bringing the event total to
$11,853 to assist in the relief efforts
associated with the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The
Drag Specialties National Dirt Track
Series continues thiS Saturday, September 22, with the Seattle Mile.

Bobby Templeton (H-D) continued
his mastery of the Goshen Iron Horseman Motorcycle Club's 150-foot hill in
round 13 of the AMA National Champi·
onship Hillclimb Series. Templeton has
won the last three 800cc Nationals held
at the Middlebury, Indiana, and four of
the last five. Chris VanHyning (Hon)
joined Templeton on the winner's podium, taking his first career National win in
