When the 30'second board turns sideways, your heort pounds and your breoth is short. You top the KX125 shift lever, leon forward, and get the revs sky-high. Fan the clutch as the gate drops. Then you and the KX125 ;moke 'em with a holeshot, blasting berms, launching triples, and getting huge air at the Rag. Fantasy? Hardly. Because for 2002, Kawasaki's R&D teom attacked the KX125 to make it accelerate harder and stronger on the top end, with sharper handling and greater durability - to help o you dominate the 125 closs. They started by lightening the crankshaft, modifying the combustion chamber, adding new porting and a big new Mikuni TMX38 carb for extreme topend power. plus a new KIPS power valve and expansion chamber to boast low-and mid-range torque. To sharpen handling they added a massive new 48mm inverted cartridge fork, a revised seat and tonk, plus new footpegs and handlebars for better ergonomics. The competition calls the new Kawasaki KX125 trouble. We call it a reol winner. -In addition to a boast in compression ratio, revisions to the squish band around the edges of the cylinder heod help reduce detonation for a complete burn and a harder hitting mid'range punch. -The Kawasaki integrated Power-valve System (KIPS) is now a simpler 2-piece slide·type exhaust valve and Features a smaller frontol areo focing the piston to help reduce resistance for the exhaust. -The Aat-slide Mikuni carburetor jumps to a huge TMX38. Advantoges include crisper acceleration and a strong boast to power everywhere - low, middle and especially top. -New, shorter stroke governor anm with a lighter spring controls the new KIPS valve while a new breather hose vents the KIPS cover. -New front inverted fork features massive 48mm tubes with thinner walls. Internally, a rubber bladder acts as on extra damping chamber to soften the impact of sudden hard jolts. A straight-rote spring complements the progressive action of the cartridge fork.
