In 80cc GP Expert competition, Morse made it look way too easy, sweeping both the morning and afternoon races, with Mitch Weisberg, retuming after a long absence, only able to apply slight pressure in second. The best ride in this class was Weisberg's brilliant charge through the field in race two after a less-than-spectacular start. Weisberg had tum five wired with a beautiful trailing-in block· pass that caught his victims totally off guard. Ian Igercic rode to a solid third overall, with Skye Girard barely edging out Steve Shimabuku for fourth overall. Continuing to show dominant form, Morse solidified his hat trick by running fiag to flag for an all-out Formula GP Expert victory. Takamoto worked his way through the field up to second in both races, only to crash out in the afternoon race, bringing out the red flag and ending the race. Blair Sullenger rode to a well-earned third overall, being bested in race two by Frank Rodriguez, who captured second overall. Benefiting from Takamoto's crash, Girard took fourth overall. Saavedra earns the lronman award for the day by challenging the heat and just about everybody else by racing in six classes. By the time the last flag dropped, Saavedra had tal- lied up an impressive first, two seconds, two thirds and a sixth-overall finish. R.sults f·(jP /IJIc 1. Rick l.a&dl; 2. Jason Van Slyke: 3.
