I I About 50 riders braved the J DO-plus-degree summer heat at Victorville Motocross Com- plex for the fifth round of the VMC Summer Series. With four motos scheduled for the day, the Vets took to the track first, followed by the 125cc Pros and the 80c< class, and the 250s wrapped up the racing. The first mota saw a nasty little pileup as Vet Intermediate rider Lor Riitimak washed the front end as he was fighting for the holeshot with Jason Simpson. The resulting pileup claimed four bikes and stretched the pack out from the start, and one rider received a nasty cut on his chin. Ehren Klein capitalized on the first-turn mishap and lead the field to an unchallenged overall finish. The foilowing motos were plagued by a few minor incidents. Yellow flags were flying as the riders tried to settle down and get acclimated to the silty dust and hard-packed conditions of the track. The VMC staff did a great job keeping the track watered and the race schedule on track. The second set of motos was fast and clean. With a slightly thinned-out Vet line, Max Eddy, aboard his KX500, pUlled the holeshot, but his lead wasn't to be long. Chuck Tuey, I I I I I ForFAS1BT sel'llice aaacII ..alUnllallel.
