The Vintage A, Band C winners were Jon Eichelbaugh, Johnny Larson and Mike Riddels, respectively. The Pro Am was nine riders strong. Danny Casey made it to the first corner first, with Mark Corsetti and Junta Kono side by side behind him. Corsetti easily got around Kono and was in hot pursuit of Casey, comer to corner, throughout the race. Billy Martin made his way up from the rear through the pack to finish third. . The Open A contest had 17 riders at the starting line. When the green flag dropped, the pack headed for the first corner with Mark Key, Danny Casey and Marty Weisler three across, leading the pack and battling for first. Weisler took the lead, with Casey and Key working hard for second. Weisler went high and Casey and Key went by underneath him. Key got in front of Casey by about half a bike length, but Casey quickly regained his momentum and passed Key again. Corsetti got around Key by the final lap, and it was Casey, Corsetti and Key, in that order, at the checkers. 250 OPEN B: I, Chris O@II (Hon); 2, Andy Burg@r (Yam); 3. Lant1 Nol't:hcm (Hon); 4. The action got under way with the Pee Wee races. The Pee Wee Senior class featured the continuing contest between Michael Avila and Brandon Bemardeau, who battled around the track lap after lap. Avila took the victory, with Bemardeau not far behind. In the Pee Wee AlB contest, there were four riders at the start line. James Williams jumped out in front off the line but wasn't able to hold on to his lead for long. Joseph Fong and Jake Strong caught and passed him and finished first and second, ahead of Sean O'Connor. In the 60cc AlBIC event, there were eight riders. Off the line. first were Bobby Fong and Kyle Anselmi, with Chad Cose just behind them. The race was fast and exciting as Fong and Anselmi maneuvered their way around the track, swapping the lead several times. The red flag came out when Anselmi took a bad spill in the trurd tum, and the race started again in sin· gle-file order. Fong led the way home first. Damon Iwanaga was first in the B class, and Jorge Cabrera finished first in the C class. Steve Bonsey got the jump off the line in the 80cc AlB contest and held on to that lead throughout the race, finishing ahead of Anthony Fong and Cody Anselmi. The Vintage Over 50 class had four riders, and "Boo Boo" Bob Scally, riding his trusty old Triumph, was victorious again. The Vet A race had Robert McDonnell in front from pole to pole. Jason Pauli and Armando Rodriguez followed in second and third. The first finisher in the Vet B portion was Matsutoshi Tomita, who was followed by Hitashi Kawahara and Donnie Darrah. The top Vet C rider was Ed Andrews. Results PN/ STK 50 B: 1, Joseph Fong: 2. Jake Strong; 3. Sean O'Connor. P/W STK 50 C: I. Gabriel Garda (Yam): 2. Seth FIscher; 3, Vll1cent Grayor. PN/ MOD SR A: I. Barona Oaks Raceway A One an' a Two It's Musick! By PETER GOLDEN RAMONA, CA, AUG. 5 Jack Musick Jr. hit a' high note in the first 125cc Beginner moto at Barona Oaks. Fifteen riders scrambled out of the gate, with Musick's YZ holding a tight inside line. A trio of bikes led by the bright yellow RM of Tommy McAdams managed an end run around Musick, leaving him a choice between the number-four spot or Barona Oaks Raceway: Yamaha maestro Jack Musick Jr. (89) makes a bold pass on Suzuki jockey Tommy McAdams (111) off the lip oflhe big infield and went on to win the moto as well as the overall In the 125cc Beginner class in Ramona, California. parking it into a hay bale. As the pack orchestrated its way up the hill, McAdams was singing lead, with VZ-mounted Trevor Green, Honda pilot Eric Moore, Musick and Yamahapowered Eric O'Neil playing backup. On the downhill and into the back field, Green tangoed with McAdams for the lead as Musick chacha'd with Moore for the number-three spot and O'Neil tried to cut in anywhere he could. After one lap, it was Green over McAdams for the lead, and Musick over Moore for third place. O'Neil still held fifth. On lap two, Musick launched off the lower lip of the big infield double for a bold pass on McAdams and then upped his tempo to reel In Green. As the top five reappeared from the back section, it was Musick over Green, McAdams holding off Moore, and Hondamounted Bryan Moorehead making a brief appearance in the number-five spot. For the final laps, Musick held the lead all the way to the checkers, with Green, Moore, O'Neil and Kawasaki jockey Brandan Garay rounding out the top five. Moto two was a whole new tune for O'Neil, who grabbed the holeshot and ran away with the lead. Behind him, McAdams, YZ guy Matt Agee, Green and Musick held off the rest of the pack. From then on it was all-out war, as McAdams, Agee, Green, Musick, Moore and Garay did the bar bang, the tire tap and the brake dance all the way through laps two and three. Going into lap four, O'Neil was unchallenged while the battle raged on behind him, but at the checkers it was O'Neil with a comfortable lead, followed in quick succession by Musick, McAdams, Green and Garay. Musick's 1-2 finishes sent him home with the overall, while O'Neil's 4-1 was still good enough for second. In other big-gate action, top honors went to Schuyler Schoomaker in the 50cc First Timer's class, Daniel Overton in the 50cc (78) Stock class, Blake Campos in the Super Pee Wee class, Dylan Crower in the 60cc Beginner class, David Kenlan in the 80cc Beginner class, and Alberto Heredia in the 80cc (7- 11) class.
