down, leaving the door wide open for Man. Wasting no time wondering if she should go through, Man took off after Humphries and had nearly caught him at the finish line. Driscoll's untimely get-off advanced Ryan Parkerson to fifth. The 65cc (7-9) main-event finish was probably the most controversial of the evening, and certainly the most exciting. McMenamin had a dismal finish in the qualifier, which was headed by Cody Thomas. That finish wasn't too shabby, either, as Thomas successfully held off Tony Sansosti of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, and Earl, North Carolina's Chelsea McSwain, with Cyler Rae Porter and Lucas Long waiting for an opening that never came. Thomas produced his customary holeshot on the 65cc (7-9) main-event start and led Porter, McMenamin, McSwain, Sansosti and Long through four of the five laps. Then things started to come apart. Thomas bobbled on the last lap, recovering in fourth. Porter had already slid back to fifth due to earlier difficulties of his own. The shakeup put McMenamin in the lead, with McSwain a bike length or two behind and Sansosti on her fender. Coming around the last turn, McSwain gassed her KX and launched it up the finish-line tabletop side by side with McMenamin. When they landed past the flagman, McSwain was indeed in front, but too late - McMenamin had come past the line ahead of her by the width of a Dunlop. eN Shelby SX Shelby, Narth Caralina Results: July Zl, ZOOl [Round 71 Take home this season's cross-country racing adion and 8lCp8I . .
