the wins, Ellis overtook Giard in the Funnybike points chase. Louie Grist took his BVR Suzuki to the Fast by Gast Pro Mod series win for the second time this season, with a final-round victory over Ashley Owens, who red-lighted away a struggling 8.03 elapsed time. But Grist was there for the taking, as he faced his own problems and could only produce an 8.33. Tommy Miceli took the Canada win, getting by number-one qualifier Steve Drake in the final. Todd Doege has had a number of number-one qualifying efforts in the Lectron Pro Stock class, but that first win has proved elusive. Doege broke though in a big way on the Ward Performance/Vortex Race Heads Hayabusa, taking wins for both Canada and Indy. Both final-round wins came at the expense of Paul Gast. Team Green rider Ryan Schnitz took his second win of the year in the Zero Gravity 600 Supersport class. Hometown favorite Chip Hunter led qualifying with a 10.01/133 and made the final for the second time this year. Schnitz took the final with a 10.03 to Hunter's 10.10. Johnnie Locklear, on the Color Rite ZX-6R, took the Canada final over the Vance & Hines Suzuki GSX-R of reigning champ Marty Ladwig. In the Mickey Thompson Top Eliminator class, Shane Williams took his first-ever win, getting by number-one qualifier and current champion Matt Smith. Williams ran a 7.80 at 168 mph as Smith found some problems at the last minute on his Victory 1 Suzuki and struggled to an 8.45. Jon Cornell kept his win streak alive in the Yamaha Hot Rod Cruiser class, bagging his fifth straight win. Cornell established a new performance standard for the class, recording the first-ever sub-ll-second run with a 10.992 at 119 mph to take the number-one qualifying position. Cornell lowered the mark to a 10.963 to take the win over Jon Binns in an allHarley-Davidson final.
