RPM Endurance Series Round 6: Hallett Motor Racing Circuit Bv ANDRE ESPAILLAT PHOTOS BV TRA RUMSOWER/ VELOCITV PHOTOGRAPHV HAllETT, OK, JGLY 14-15 uly in Hallett is normally hot and miserable, but Mother Nature smiled on the RPM organization, providing some overcast skies and temperatures in the 80s, which made Saturday's four-hour endurance race much less painful than usual, so speeds were up and mishaps were down. H&H Motorsports took the Heavyweight Superbike overall win on their Suzuki 750 with 166 laps. Bent Racing and Idiot Blues finished second and third overall (and first and second in Middleweight Superbike) with 165 and 163 laps, respectively. Cizznakel took fourth overall and second in Heavyweight Superbike. Team Speedy Gonzales, Team Silverback and Team Blonde took the podium spots in Lightweight Superbike after Cycle 1 's Scott "Monkey" Levine dropped Rich "Studmuffin" Desmond's SV650 during the third hour, taking out the radiator and retiring the early leaders for the weekend. On Sunday John Haner set a new track record, and there were repeat wins by Haner, Jason Swan and Bradley Champion. Some excellent Heavy Mini competition started the day off. Dustin Dominguez got an excellent start, chased by fellow Derbi rider Clay Allen, who put up an exc.ellent fight. On lap four, Allen tried to get by Dominguez going into turn three but was off line and couldn't quite make it stick. On lap five, Allen outbraked Dominguez going into turn three again and earned the lead - but only for a few feet. Allen was seriously off the line and Dominguez held tight to recapture first at the exit. After his bold move, Allen's timing was a bit off, and Dominguez moved well away from his competition. In D Superbike and 125cc GP competition, Champion lived up to expectations, taking runaway wins throughout the day. Steve Davis finished a not-too-distant second. The race got off to a shaky start when one of the 125s high-sided in turn three, leaving the bike in the middle of the track at the exit. Corner workers didn't make it very obvious for the D Superbike wave coming down the hill, so things were a bit touch-and-go during the first lap. After the mishap, Champion worked his way through most of the first wave before he got to turn nine on the first lap! Wayne Moore took third in D Superbike J In the Formula One Expert and Novice contest, Mark Gifford hit turn one ahead of Martins, who took the lead over the top of the hill with horsepower. Gifford got him back on the brakes going into turn three. On lap two, Martins was back in the lead exiting turn one, but Gifford dived deep again in turn three, upsetting both riders and allowing Jason Swan to rail past both on the inside. Swan and Gifford slid both ends of their bikes for the rest of the race, and the finishing order was Swan, Gifford and Martins in the Expert portion. The Novice leaders were Keith Holleman, Price and Jeff Butler. Lightweight Twins was yet another Champion runaway. Steve Davis gave chase, but Champion simply checked out. Jamie Miller finished third. A trio of SV650 riders took the Novice ranks: James Johnston, Shawn Bostwick and Richard Brooks. In the final race of the day, Martins hit turn one first, but Swan was leading the pack on the second lap. Swan checked out. Martins was second and Shane Stoyko third. eN (Right) John Haner set a new track record at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit and won the A Superstock and B Superstock Expert contests.
