The custom Fat Boy cartwheeled multiple times, landing on Harvey. "P.J. did a hell of a job wrapping himself around the bike to protect it," Roberts said from the Rapid City, South Dakota, hospital. A much-appreciated nurse, who was on her way to work at the Rapid City hospital, was one of the first on the scene and administered immediate aid and subsequent emergency transportation to the fallen Harvey, according to the release. Harvey sustained a hairline fracture to his hip, a broken ankle, and several cuts and abrasions. Harvey was scheduled to be transported from Rapid City to his home in Scottsdale, Arizona, on August g where he is expected to make a full recovery. Red-hot road racer Ben Bostrom returned to Southern California on August 8 to enjoy some rest and relaxation during the break in the World Superbike Championship schedule. Bostrom, who doesn't race again until the German round of the series in Oschersleben, Germany, on September 2, came home to basically, "play with my brother [Ericl." No one in the series is hotter than Ben Bostrom right now with the L&.M Ducati rider winning the last 'five races. Still. he trails Infostrada Ducati's Troy Bayliss by 51 points with just six races to go. Although he doesn't sound like a man who doesn't think he can accomplish the feat, Bostrom is qUick to point out how tough Bayliss is. "It's a lot," Bostrom said of the points differential between himself and Bayliss. "He [Bayliss] doesn't give up. He rides to win and that's why he always ends up near the front." Rumors of Bostrom riding elsewhere in 2002 are unfounded, Bostrom said - especially since Ducati has the option of picking him up for another year based on his 2001 results. Look for his team structure to remain the same for next year. "I have a contract with Ducati," Bostrom said. "The team is the best and the L&M guys are super happy." As for his lingering shoulder injury, Bostrom said: ."It's getting a little better and a little stronger, but it's AMA Pro Racing has announced the tentative schedule for the 2002 AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships. The 2002 schedule will include the same venues as the 2001 season, with two changes. Both Nastro Azzuro Honda's Valentino Rossi and Castrol Honda's Colin Edwards rode the new Honda RC211 V GP racer in the days following their victory in the Suzuka 8 Hours at the Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka City, Japan. Poor weather hampered most of the test, with continuous rain during the morning of Rossi's test finally clearing up at 2:25 p.m. After a few laps on the RC211 V, Rossi returned to the pits to give project leader Heijiro Yoshimura, and his engineering staff, his initial impression of the machine. Rossi made his wishes known to the test team who prepared the machine set-up to suit his riding style and he went out again. However, due to the changing weather, the test was stopped at 5 p.m. Shinichi Itoh and M!'koto Tamada also tested the machine, as they had on previous occasions, but Rossi was the first Grand Prix rider to test the RC211 V. "It was quite a big emotion to test the new Honda GP machine," said Rossi in a Honda press release. "because it's the beginning of a new era and I was very excited to test the four-stroke V-five. Due to the rain the track was wet and I rode the bike only in the afternoon, but the time was enough to understand the character of this bike. Attack Suzuki's Jason Pridmore has been given the okay by Dr. Arthur Ting to resume his racing career, following the badly broken lower left leg he suffered at Road Atlanta in May. "I saw Ting last week," Pridmore said from his Ventura, California, home. "Everything looks good. I've started walking a bit, riding my bicycle and I've been going to the gym. I'll be back for Pikes Peak [August 2426]. Suzuki has been so cool to me, so awesome, through this whole thing, I really want to get back out there for them and the crew." Harley-Davidson has already announced preliminary plans for its 100year anniversary, a date it will celebrate in 2003. "When Harley-Davidson throws a party, Milwaukee rumbles," a release from the Motor Company stated. "When the Company celebrates 100 years of the world's greatest motorcycles - the earth will shake." Harley says the celebration will be a yearlong celebration that will span the globe, visiting several continents and numerous cities before "Take It To The Limit."
