through the pack on an unfamiliar machine. Karnow pulled out to a fivesecond lead, while the Jarrett-Bowman battle moved into second, relegating Miller to fourth. Marshall was now in fifth. Karnow took the checkers ahead of Jarrett. Bowman took third, and Marshall got fourth after a late-race tumble cooled his charge. Miller hung on for fifth. Karnow got a great start in the second moto, with Bowman in second and Jarrett in third. Marshall was ninth exiting the first turn but worked his way into fourth by lap two. Karnow rode flawlessly. Bowman held down second as Marshall began to push Jarrett for third. Jarrett began a push toward the front. He battled Bowman for a couple of laps and then went after the leader, but Karnow was solid, taking the win two seconds ahead of Jarrett, with Bowman taking third and Marshall fourth. Troy Gould of Perry, Ohio, gave an outstanding performance, scoring four moto wins. Gould took the Schoolboy (12-15) and 125cc B eN classes.
