Sephton kept the New York flag flying in round two with a win, a pair of seconds and a third in his heat races, ending the night with a respectable third-place finish in the evening's first semi. After the LCQ was won by Cook with a brilliant laser-guided holeshot move from the outer limits of gate four, the main came down to Hicks, Fisher, Larsen, Schwartz and Cook five pretenders to the throne, but only one would be king. Hicks nailed the holeshot and it was all over. Larsen tried his best to catch the leader, but the one-line track bias was too strong. Cook hung on to round out the podium, with Fisher and Schwartz completing the order of finish. After a champagne soaking on the podium, Hicks thanked the New York fans and host Jason Bonsignore, who put his heart and soul into making the inaugural AMA King of U.S. Speedway Series a success.
