Turner's role in the growt h and success of AHRMA's road race program through the 1990s, Turner, 57 , is a former tri als and sc ra mb les com pe t ito r , and is a founder and past president of the Kansas City-based Heart of America Motorcyc le Enthusiasts. Th e Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum recently opened its newest exhibit, "A Century of Indian , presented by Progressive Motorcycle Insurance. " This exhibit , the most ambitious in the museum' s ll -year his tory, co mmemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Indian Mot ocycle Manufacturinq Company. The exhibit officially ope ned d u ring ribb on -cu t t ing ceremonies hel d on July 7. In attendan ce were seve ral hundred motorcycle enthu siasts , local officials, and many of the men and women who rode Indian mot orcycle s during the first half of th e 20th centu ry . Al so on hand were c lassic mot orcycl e s from t he "C entury Ride Home, " a 15-day ride from Los Angeles. Californi a, t o Sprin gfield , M assachu setts, (original home of the Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company). The new Indian exhibit ce lebrates one of Am erican mot orc y c ling ' s mo st he ralded brands. It features 50 important motorcycles from Indian's tumultuou s histo ry, as we ll as period sales literature, memo rabili a, photos never before displaye d, and info rmative text that chro nicles the rise and fall of an American icon . " Indian remains one of the true touchst ones of American moto rcycling, as well as a fascinating stud y in Am eri can business, " said Mark Mederski, Executive Dir ecto r of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Mu seum. "The mu seu m is proud to present an exhibit that not only showcases classic motorcycles, but also documents the people, events and cultural con text surrou nding the Indian saga .
