Neese just had to finish second in moto two to secure the ov erall. With Wa lk er's firs t-moto problem , e ve n a second-moto wi n wo uld only award h im fourth overall. Jake Griffis wa s one of on ly a few South Caroli ni ans to ac t u ally w in a South Caro lina. st ate cha m p ions hi p . He co m plete ly dominated the Unlimited C contest , winning both motos. In moto one, he pulled the ho leshot and nev er l o o ked back. Jason Vanho y ga ted second but stalled his bike and never rega ined the pace . Chase Whitten inherited second and f inished there, foll owed by Jerry Rame y , Ryan Chappell and Henry Hernandez. Moto two was a bit different. Whitten gated first and set the pace . A m iscue on the ba c k stra ight caused him to go down hard, giving the lea d to Griffis, who won the m ot o and the ove ra ll. A jumble in moto fin ishes behind him made things interesting for the scorers. He was fo ll owed by Chris Ha yes , Marco Byrum, Chappell and Fielding Morris. Gr iffis also co ntrolled the action in th e first 125 c c C moto, and he took the win. However, while leading moto two , he went down hard in the fin ish- line whoop sec ti on . Hi s DNF gave the overall to Malcolm Klepp, a lso a South Caro lin a resident , vi a a 3 -2 sc o re. He wa s fo llowed by second moto win ner J eremy A llison, J eremy Jacob s, Tra v is Fl ow ers and Chris Hayes . A total of 4 4 rid ers l in ed up to co mpete in the 65cc (7 -9 ) class . With the Na tional qualifier comi ng up , this might have been a pr eview of th ings to come . In moto one , Rya n Currie had the quic k hand , fo llowed b y Madison H am b r i g ht , Wi l fred o Gus man , Ian T ret tel and Flo rid a 's T yler M oore. Ha m b rig ht bobb led and was now in six th, but he wa s working har d t o m o ve ba c k up. Gusm an crashed, letting Ham brig ht to get closer to the fro nt . O n the l a s t la p, Ha m b r i g ht pass ed T rettel for the w in . Bubba Crosby led moto two from start to finish . Hambright was in th ird but close to second -p laced Trettel on the last lap. This was the rac e for th e overall, as Crosby did not finish moto one . Trettel threaded between two lap pers just before the finish and got t h e breath ing room he needed to secure second and the overall. Hambright return ed to cla im the cham p io nship in Unlimited 65cc (710) competition v i a two runner -up moto finishes. He wa s hounded by second-moto winner Les Smith. First m o t o winne r Golten Maynard was third , Robert T iesler was fourth , and Benjamin D ent on was fifth . Walker returned to dominate both 250cc Pro m otos, though not without early fights from Neese and Chester. Walker pulled the moto-one holeshot moto one bu t was rec eiv ing pressure from Neese. Ba ll zee' s Chad Lough , on a new KTM 520SX, wasn't letting th e race in front of h im get away . After Neese bobbl ed, Ch ester and Lough h a d smooth sailing to t h e checkers to claim second and th ird. Ja red Black finished fourth, and Con nect icut' s J o shua M cLev y roun ded out th e top five . n e ,.,.. s Camp Coker MX Park: Jake Griff is (77) pulls the Unlimited C holeshot over Henry Hernandez (204) and the rest of the pack at round five of the IMS Pro Series/Carolina Ultra Series and round nine of the U.S. Mega Series in Society Hili , South Carolina.
