Ed it or The Environment I wa nt to tha nk you for printing one of the most truthful a rticles a bout envi ronm e nta lism I have seen in popular media. I am referring to Ted Miller 's article "Rura l C leans ing by Endangere d Spe cies" (Iss ue # 2 5 , J un e 2 7 ). It is very unus ua l to see something in pr int that s ta tes the tru e objectives of e nviro nmenta lists , o bjectives whi ch have nothing to do with clean ing up the e nviro nme nt and little to do with preventing bikers and other off-road- e rs fro m rid ing their favorite trails. Th e true objective of environmen ta lism is t h e removal of human be ings from as much of the planet as po s sibl e by any m eans that will wor k , includ ing the destruction of property rights , riots at business and scientific conferences and terrorist acts . My only issue with Ted 's article is that he doesn 't mention the most fun dam enta l means by which env iron menta lists are attempting to achieve their objective. If you actually read th e wha t the most extre me e nv iron mental advocates have written, suc h as Paul Butl er, Carl Pope , Ted Kazyn s k i, Dave Fore ma n a n d Dr . Reed Noss , instead of the misinformation in the popular media , it soon becomes clear that their true objective is nothing less than the de -industrial ization of the world . It doesn 't take a ro c ke t scientist to figure out that if e nviro nmentali sts are su c ce s sful , mass starva tio n will soon follow. It is on ly by mea ns of modern te chnology and our ind ustrial ca pa city t hat e na bles a ll six billion of us to live o n this planet. Our industria l a nd technic al foo d produc tion and dist ributi o n ca pacity is why so few pe ople go hungry in the U.S . as co m p a re d t o No rt h Kor e a , for examp le . Take m od ern techno logy a nd ind ustry away, o r e ve n red uce the m slig htly fo r a few m onths , a nd m illion s will sta rve . En vir onm ental ists a re wol ves in s hee p's clothing. I re a lize man y will s a y tha t hard co re e nv iro n me n t a lis ts ar e just "extremi sts." bu t if yo u study history you will find a ve ry close a na logy to Hitler an d hi s ba n d o f thu g s wh en they first started o ut . If yo u read what the most extreme Nazi phi losophers said a nd wro te, you will see that they were true to t heir wo rds to the e nd , and they to o k t h e ir idea to its full ex treme as soon as th e y had ca used enough social chaos to m ake it poss ible fo r them to do so. Pra ct ic e will eventually follow theory with envi ro n m e nta lism too , and just as with the Nazis , the worst of th e environmenta lists wi ll event ua lly get their way unles s th e y are sto pped . We h a ve alrea dy s t art e d d o wn t h e s li p pery slope , as Ted so clearly ha s pointed out. The first ste p to round ing up the J ew s was crea ting the social c ond it ion s to make it possi ble . T he first step toward clea n si ng th e p la n e t of m o st o f th e human ra c e is rur al clea ns ing . An other ex a m ple Ted do es not m ention in his a rticle is th e power cr isis in Ca lifornia . Part of that probl em is gov ern m e nt regulations that m a ke it im poss ible for power companies to c ycle properly plan for futu re generating capacity , but the most fundamenta l c a u s e of the current shortage is 30 years of pu rposeful effort by environmenta lists to either shut down power plants, reduce their output, or to prevent new ones from being built. Well, they succe eded in att ain ing that o bjective , and now we ha ve a power sy stem s o wea kened th at it is pr e y to the weather, like in so me third -wo rld co u ntry . (S e e "C a lifo rn ia' s Gr e en Brownout" by J a c k Wakela nd , "T he Int e llec tual Ac t iv is t , " Vol umes 15 , n um be rs 3 [, 5 , www.l ntelle ctualAc tivist.com ). Going fro m a modern , civili ze d country to a third -world count ry is the first step on the roa d to th e ret urn to the pr im itive , wh ich is wh at envi ron menta lists want. Unfortunately, yo u will not find the truth about e nviro nm e nta lis m in th e p opular p ress ( Cy cl e News ex c e pted!) be c ause th e pre ss in this co untry is just a mouthp ie ce for e nvironmentalists. Most of th e media sim ply will no t prin t th e truth a bo ut e nviron menta lists' tru e o bjectives , objectives that envi ro n m e n talists h a v e wr itt en in plain En gl ish in their own pub lic a tio ns , bu t publ ic a t io ns tha t a re n ot rea d b y t he genera l p u bl ic . The med ia c oul d make them more public , if they wanted to . If yo u a re interested in le a rni ng objec tive , fa ctu a l info rm a tion about t h is an d ot her impo rt an t is s u e s , check out t h e fo llow in g we b si tes: http: / /env iron ment alis m .ay nr and .o rg/ a nd ht t p :/ /www.a ynrand. org /m ed ialinkfi ndex .html. I hope wh a t you read open s your eyes to wh at is go ing on in ou r co untry , like Ted 's great article doe s . But do n't take my word for it. Read up o n thi s issue for you rs elf, and for m you r own o pinion - yo ur life and our future may depend o n it. Oh , and Ted , please keep up the good wor k!
