Bath and Graves, both pitting out o f th e Yamaha -based Herb 's Cy c l e Town motocross t eam , wen t head to head in all fou r motos of the 12 5cc and 250cc Pro cl asses, with Graves po sting a win in th e 125cc cl ass, and Bath , who recently rel ocat ed to Oreg o n f r o m C a l i f orn ia , t o p pi n g th e 250 cc class. Graves also captured an overall win in the highly co mpetit ive Over 30 Pro cla ss. Bath , like Graves, was also a dou ble-class win ner , p ic k ing up an ov er all win in the open ing race of the da y , t h e B ef o r e The Hill In t ermed iat e/ Jun ior c o ntest. Terle cki was Bath ' s closest com petitor, fin ishing seco nd to captu re the overall Up Th e Hill win , ahead of Hueg e, the sec ond -p la ce fi ni sher to Bath in t he B e f or e Th e Hill Intermed ia t e cl ass. By th is time , Graves had opened up a large ga p betw een himself and Bath , who eventually got around Terlecki. Bath slashed into Gra ves ' lead afte r click ing off a successive stri ng of nearly fla wless laps , and the stag e was then set : Bath pu shed Graves for several laps before stu ffi ng a wheel und er neath of him and th en polis hing off a win to nab the overall vic tory . Graves fi nis hed a close sec ond , foll owe d by Terlecki. In the adj oin ed Intermediate class , Conkey ( 1- 1) clobbered the competition to lead Aaron Tunnell (2- 2), Ed Sm ith (3 -3) , Hu ege (4-4 ) , J ack Mea dows (5 -5 ) and Califo m ian J ar id Blev ins (6- 6) ov erall. Huege pulled th e tr ig ger faste st at th e drop o f th e gate in th e fi rst 125cc Pro/ Interm ed ia te moto , b ut the 15 year-o ld got the door slamm ed on him when Bath made a block -pass to take the le ad, sending Hueg e to th e grou nd .
