POOLE, ENGLAND, JUNE 17
ason Lyons was crowned Overseas Champion for the second
time in four years with an untroubled
15-point maximum at Poole.
The Aussie flyer raced to five flawless wins to see off the challenge of
Gary Havelock, defending Overseas
Champion Sam Ermolenko and the
on-form Scott Nicholls.
The other four who go forward to
the Intercontinental Final in Vastervik
in August are John Cook, Steve
Johnston, Sean Wilson and Stuart
Robson. Chris Siabon beat Paul Hurry
in a run-off for the reserve position.
Lyons launched his afternoon with
a flying start to win heat one from the
inside as Sean Wilson was run wide
by Paul Fry off the outside, but
Nicholls soon had the Union Jacks
fluttering by taking heat two.
