But in a very low-key debut, Hailwood Jr . took part in his first bike race in a classic race at Estonl in Portugal on May 22, finishing 11th out of 35 starte rs, riding - what else? - a Mike Hailwoo d Replica Ducati! His father also finished 11th in his first-ever race, back it) 1957 - but there's a good chance if arrangements can be finalized that the next time David Hailwood slings a leg over a 900cc Ducati in public, it'll be aboard t~e real thing.
