I really enjoy all of the tracks from here on ou t, so I fee l pretty good about the rest of the series." The sand ace went 3·3 on the day and is currently seventh in po ints. cu e I e Smets blasted thr ough Southwick's 180-degree sweeper to take the early le ad , followed by Henry , Dowd, Carm ichael and LaRocco. The French du o of Roncada and T o rt e lli were next, followed by the thumpers of Ferry and Hughes. Carmichael we nt to work im m e d ia t e ly , p icking off Henry and Dowd before the completion of the second lap to move into the runner-up position before begin ning to hound Smets mercilessly for t he le a d . Henr y maintained t hird , whil e Dowd a nd LaRoc c o battled for fou rth. Fru strated by Smets' ability to p u ll h im d own the s t rai g h t s, Ca rmic hael bull-dog ge d his way under the stock y Belgian in a tight left-hand ed turn just after the beginning of the third lap , ta k ing ove r the top spot to the cheers of th e partisan fa ns .
