Desp ite t he mi dm orn in g li ght sh o w a nd w et w eath er , the BCMC did a great job of pulling off a race that ma ny thought woul d be very tough to get in, so here's a tip of the visor to one and all. In m o t a o n e of 2 50cc C ac tio n, Brian Babrick ran the inside line off the gate and led th rough tu m one, with Bria n Lenne ma n, Dan Duve and Jason Pfeister loo k ing to get to the front, ou t of the muddy ro o st . D uve roa red d o wn t he n e x t downhill and kep t h is CR pi nned rig ht throug h the mudho le to ta ke a large lead th ree turns into the race. John Matt followed Duve' s lead and tum ed up the wick o n his KX5 00 to pa ss Pfeister in the same m udhole. By lap two , Duve had such a lead that he slowed considerabl y to m ak e sure the race wasn't called for some reason, and after being reassured and told by his pit crew to kee p going . he rod e away to a b ig win . The rac e between Matt and Preister raged all m ot a, with the two trad ing positions o n numerous occasio ns, but in the end it wa s Pfeister ta king secon d and Matt thi rd . David Morgan and Andy Do nah ue had a good race in the mud for fourth , but in the end, it was Morgan slip -slid ing his way into fourth, with Donah ue locking up fifth. Mo to two was th e Donahue Show ; he led from start to fin ish. A"holeshot in th e mu d is a godsen d, and Donahue used it wisely to take the wi n. Lenn eman and Pfeister battled early in the race over second, but both ride rs took a soil sam ple and d ropped out of th e top fiv e. Ma tt took ov er seco nd on lap tw o , b ut Duv e was on the m ov e afte r a forgettab le start and on lap th ree he m oved past Matt to take over seco nd p l a ce . Pfe ister recovere d from h is e a rl y - m o t a m i sh ap a nd w a s n ow up into fourth, behind Donahue, Duve and Matt - but he we nt upsid e do wn again, letti ng M orga n take over fourth. A t th e end of th e mu ddy day, Don ahue ( 5- 1) won the battl e but lo st the overall to Duve (1 -2 ) . Th ird went to Matt, who used th e po wer of his KX500 to cla im third in mota t wo as we ll as third overall o n a 3-3 score .
