S ANDE RSON CLIFFORD, PA, APR. 14 ro m ley Suzuki's nationally ranked Pro rider, Ba rry Carsten, topped the 125cc A , 250cc A and Vet (Over 30) A classes at the Hurricane Hills Sports Center 's second District 6 points race of the season on Saturday, April 14 . Carsten had some defi nite competition at this race , held the day before Easter Sunday. Carsten rode to a 2 -1 score for top honors in the 125cc A class ; Paul Corey won the first moto, and Carsten had to get the second -moto w in to secure th e overall. In the 250cc Open A class as well as in the Vet (Over 30) A class , Car st en battled with Boyesen E ng i ne ering 's Dag Boyesen , ma nagi ng to co me out o n t op . Boyesen earned sec on d overall after they traded moto w ins, w ith Carst en g ettin g th e second-moto win in each class to claim the o verall victo ries . Car st en put his RM at th e front of th e pa ck early in th e fi rst 250cc Open A m o t o , with D a v i d Ginolfi , D a g Boyesen . Larry Harper and Jeff Paul trailing . The same three were out fro nt at the start of lap two, while Paul made his way around Harper to claim fourth. The top five r ema ined unchanged for lap three , but about halfway through lap four G inol fi caught Carsten but couldn 't make a pass. Boy esen then caught Gino lfi and managed to get around him for second , dropping Ginolfi back to th ird. Boyesen was tripling a section of the rhythm section, wh ich allowed him to make t ime on Carsten and mak e the pass for the lead on lap six with a lap to go. Boyesen hel d on for th e fi rst-moto win , w ith Ca rsten , Ginolfi, Pau l and Harper in tow . Carsten na il ed another holeshot in th e second 2 50cc Open A moto . T railing Carste n through the fir st turn were Boyesen, M ik e Leavitt, Paul and G ino l fi. Artonouvlia held th ird, DeNa pIes dropped back to fourth and F r a n k Hu g h e s moved up to fifth. Hu ghes quickly caught DeNaples and m ade the pass fo r fo urth on lap three. Hu gh es was o n a charge and soon caug ht and passed Artonouvlia for third. Meanwh ile , Palmieri was chip ping away at T ay lo r' s lead, and he m ad e t h e pass f o r the lead abou t halfwa y through lap thre e . Ta ylor dropped t o second . Hughes was still charging , and he manag ed t o catch Taylor and pass him for sec ond in the turn before the downhill tabletop on lap four. Ta ylor dropped another spot to third . Hughes cl o sed the g ap o n Palmieri out front by the last la p and made the pass for the lead with ha lf a lap to go. Hughes took th e first-moto wi n , w it h Palmieri. Artonou vlia passed Taylor for second , drop ping Taylor to third . Doorey passed Duckworth to cla im fourth. Duck worth was relegated to fifth. The top five remained the same for lap three, but Artonouvlia crashed on lap four , which allowed Taylor to move up to second . Doorey was third. Hon d a of Housto n ' s Ty Conne r T ch ased Marsha ll in th e first m oto for second , followed b y Adam Turner and Brandon Fulton. The second moto had Fulton behind Marshall at the fini sh, with Conner in third. Seven motos later, Marshall lined up at the gate in the 125cc Int erm ediate class , w hich was doubl e -ga t ed with the 125cc Experts.
