CMA Pacific Coast Championship Hanford Raceway (Left) Brian Hulsey scored t hree solid vict ori e s at the CMA Pacific Coa st Ch am pionship , w inning the 12 5cc Intennediate class on Saturday and th e 250 c c Intennediate c la ss on both days. HANFORD, CA, MAY 5·6 ria n Hu ls e y wa s o n a ro ll t h is weekend, scoring three solid victor ies in the Intermediate ranks duro ing the CMA Pacific Coast Championship weekend he ld at Hanford Raceway . The th ree -d a y e ve nt dr ew more than 6 0 0 en tr ies , with rid e rs getting a full da y of practic e on Friday , a two-mot o format on Saturda y and a three-m ot o sh o ot ou t fo r t he title on Sunday. The co urse was change d between Saturday and Sunday in an effort to elimi nate any advanta ges one ride r m a y have ha d during the first da y, and two ve ry difficu lt whoop sections we re added fo r th e final day. The co urse was mostly sa nd y, held o n d eep, loa my farm property. Tempe ra tu res pea ked in the 90s all weekend . Hulsey ha d a g re a t weeke nd, no doubt, after st a rting out with a blo ck of m oto wins . "Bria n is wo rkin g ver y hard these days ," sa id a local shop owner. "He wants to go Pro by the end of the year." Huls ey 's first 125cc Intermedia te race on Saturda y was nearly perfect. Gating up front , Hulsey pulled out a "phat" lead. Mike Alessi finis he d sec on d in th e moto after gating outside the to p 10 , while Hond a rider Bobby Ba pt ista, Steve Ne lson and Brandon J on es rounded out th e top five. The second moto was a repeat for Hulsey , with another so lid .ste rt-t o -flnis h ro m p on the fie ld . Alessi and Aaron Be rg a ntz ha d a battle for second; the two got too close in a co rner and Ales s i we nt d o wn . In t he end, Hul se y record e d the ove ra ll win in convincing fas hion , topping Bergan tz, Jones, Nelson and Baptista .
