Shau n Trabert sta rte d things off with th e 125cc Intermediate first- m ote holeshot. Tra bert quickly cam e under fire from Mark Her- mann and Lindstrom . Th e th ree rid er s engaged in an excellent battle over the lea d that lasted until the m idway point, when lindstrom bobbled and dropped to third. behind Herm ann, who was starting to lose sight of Trabert. Trabert saw the checkers fir st. lind- strom was able to work his way past Hennann to finish second . Josh Bagge clai me d fourth . Chaz Sm ith fought back from an early fall to earn fifth, ove r J ohn Simanovic h. lindstrom put his YZ125 into an immedi- ate second-mota lead a nd was closely pur sued by Herma nn and Tra bert . Herm ann went down hard off a ju mp on lap two . Bagge was running up near the front when he, too , went dow n, dropping to seventh . However , the tum -two es s es proved to be the mix ma ster. Hopkins took th e win , Garner wa s se co nd , Kirs t fell ba c k to thi rd . and Ayumu came back up to fourth. In race two , th e ve ry tig ht turn on e/ turn two co mbo influen ced the outc ome ea rly on . Hop k ins and Gam er had a sizable lead. tr ailed by Sterlin g and J ason Van Slyke. A seesaw battle ensue d for t hird and fo urt h between Sterli ng and Van Slyke. At th e fl ag , Hop kin s too k his second win a nd first ove rall, Gamer repeated in sec on d for se co nd o verall, Van Sl y k e p rev ailed to tak e third, but Sterli ng 's fourth gave him third overall , as Kirst finish ed well enough for the ove rall fourth .
