Co w l ey wen t 3 -4 for third overall , and Lowry had to settle for fourth with a 4-6 finish . Ja cks on , Mi ss ouri 's Travis Thrower jammed h is Suzuki into th ird pla c e in th e last moto to make up fo r a ninth in moto one . That charg e netted him fifth overall. T he I 25cc Beg inners had 32 riders on t he gate . Zack D a v is t o o k t h e holeshot in moto one and le d fro m wi re to wire. A bad start in m oto two that res ulted in a sixth- place finish ga ve the Hon d a rider fo urth overa ll. Dus t i n Johnson of C a v e Ci ty, Arkansas, ran 2 - 1 for the overall win. Shelby Smith of Jonesboro, Arkansas , rode steady and held o ut for second ov erall w ith a 3 -2 posting . Arkansas riders too k the top eight spots, and 17 of the 32 riders we re Arkies . T ennessee, was the site of round fou r of th e Unit ed States Mega Series , which w as also round three of t he IMS Pro Series' Carolina Ultra Series. With ternperatures in the 80s, 538 riders were greete d w ith great racing , and hornetown hero Mike Brown won both Proclass ov eralls ov er Damon Bradshaw. After finish ing fourth in Pontiac , Mic h igan, on Saturday night, Brown 's plane landed in time for him to get to t he track and mak e th e fi rst Pr o m oto . With virtually no p ractic e, Pro Circuit' s B ro w n lined u p o n th e far o uts ide a n d pulled the h o lesh ot to le ad B r ad sh aw , Kev in W al k er , J im N e es e a nd ar ena cr oss ri der Jim Ch est er. B rad sh aw showed Brow n a wh e el a f e w t i m e s b e f or e B rown pu ll e d a s l i ght l e a d to get som e bre athing roo m . On the th ird l a p , Brad sh aw went down in the super - 1 cross whoop section , giVing an advantage of 10 seconds to Brown . As Brown set i t on cru ise c o ntrol, Bradshaw remounted and started hi s march bac k to t he fro nt. At m oto 's end , the order was Brown , Bra dshaw, Walker, J osh Summey and Chest er. Br a ds h a w go t the moto-two holeshot, followed by Brown , but Brown put his Ka wasaki up fron t on lap tw o and never looked back; he won by 15 seconds over Bradshaw , Neese, Summey and Walker. In the first 250cc Pro m oto, Brown again absconded with the holeshot, this time fo llowed by Walker, Neese, Brad shaw and Hims Nee!' Brown led the fir st four laps, only to have Bradshaw jum p by him in a rh ythm sect ion . After Brad shaw assumed the point, Brown was co ntent to settle fo r second , fo llowed by Walker, Neel, Neese and Summey . "I sti ll have my supercross suspen sion on the bikes," Brown com me nted on the starting line before second moto, "and I got arm pump on the 250." The se cond moto would be h is revenge. Chad Ward got the ho les hot and led the field into the back sec tion . Brown qu ickly p as sed for th e lea d. He wasted no time putting some distance on the rest of the field to secure the moto w in and the overall, over Bradshaw, Walker, Summey and Paul Justice. In Over 30 B action , Scott Linkous posted 1- 1 moto fin ishes to na il down the ove rall, followed by Jeff Mushala ( 2 -3), Jeff Toml inson , Keith Nevers and Roger Arnold . In the fi rst 125cc B moto, Jason Wiley had the qu ick est hand , and he took the lead, with Zack Bradsh aw , Jacob Saylor , Ryan Sipes and Bradley McCu rry in tow. Nick Vargo was just out of the top fi ve and looking for an y opening on th e first la p . S a ylor was first to make a mo v e , going fro m thi rd to assume the point as he p a ssed b o t h B r ad sh a w and Wiley . A t th e end , it was Say lor wi th the wi n, wi th Bradshaw in second , fol lowe d b y S ipes , Vargo , Wi ley and B lake Hovis in sixth afte r recovering from a bad start. I n m o t o two , S ipes na i led th e ho leshot , w ith Hovis , Bradshaw , Wile y , Vargo and Saylor in tow. This moto proved to be a crash -fl ll ed o ne . Hovis, Wiley and Vargo were rid ing three wide for second place. Bradshaw got shuffled ba ck while Wiley moved into secon d , b ut Wiley slid dow n and rem o unte d in sixth . Hov is was now push ing Sipes for t he lea d when h e found h imself going d own hard in the whoops . Sip es cont inued to enjoy a sm all lea d now , with ev ery o ne fig hting be h in d him. Va rgo w as th e next to crash . Wiley wa s bac k on th e ch arg e now in thi rd , o n l y to h it the g r ou nd a g ain . S ip es w o n t h e m ot o , fo llowed by overall win ner Say lo r and then Bradshaw , a bruised -up Wiley and Isha Wood. In Over 25 C action, KOR E Cycles' Jason Koen ig got the holeshot on a 125 ( ag a inst mostly 250s ) , but h is l ead was s h o r t-liv e d, as Thomas Davis from nea rb y Sev ierv ille took the lea d. These two were followed by Greg Clark, John Ward and Rodney Wh ite . By halfway, everyone was settling in , with Davis out front, follo wed by Koenlq , Chris Co og ler, Ward an d Wiley , and the o rder re m a in ed the same to the checkers . In moto two, Davis gated t h e qu ickest, with Ward, Koen ig, Coogler a nd G reg Looney behin d.
