Zane Gib l et , at 11th overall, was fi rst Open bik e, and Jonathan Whitacre to pped the 200cc class at 13th overall. The B cla ss wa s dominated by 250cc class riders. as they filled out four of the top five spots. Cody Cappock was the overall winner, followed by Dwayne Sawyer . Four-stroke ride r Blake Brad y broke the 250 cc stranglehold at third overall, but he was followed by Joe Brad ley and Gary K ing , bot h 250ccm ounted , at fourth and fifth overall. Caprock Canyon Endur o in Turkey, Texas . Sponsored by A -Loop Off-Road and jointly sanctioned by the T exas State Championship Enduro Circuit and t he Rocky Mountain Enduro Club, the eve nt drew riders from all over the region , with some c om ing from as far away as Wyoming and North Dakota. Fortunately , the harsh weather d idn't ma terialize. and the riders were rewarded with ideal course cond itions for the day . Misty conditions caused many riders to abandon their goggles b y midrace, bu t most riders agreed that was preferable to the dusty con ditions that might have otherwise prevailed. The Post Enduro Association club members laid out an impressive co urse . More than 70 m iles long , t he course featu red lots o f tight single -t rack terrain interspersed with some deep, sandy washes and so me ranch roa ds. One road in particular was th e down - fall of a few ride rs. Mos t riders entered the road sectio n late fr om th e pr evi ou s sing le- track and had to speed through the lon g road section to rega in their minut e. Whil e m ost of th e riders made it into the final kn ow n co n tro l w ith ti me to spare, a few poor souls didn't co ns ider the effects of the co ol , wet air and seized th eir engines. Riders were seen pu sh ing the final m il e in twos an d some t imes threes . For those who made it. the final specia l test co ns isted of a la p around th e " grand pri x" course. U sed the day be fore as a fun warm-up race, t h e Eu ropean -sty le gra ss t rack wa s p op u la r with ev eryone . As had been predicted , pr o flat -tra ck racer Dav ey Durelle posted one of th e fastest times on the m il e-long special test en ro ute to a fourth - place finish in the Vet A cla ss.
