ELORA, TN, MAR. 31·APR. 1 he Southeast Trial Riders Asso ciation has a lo ng History of orqa nizing quality trials, and when an all new venue - located on the private property of former National Champi on Curt Comer - was announced by the Huntsville Trials Club, the quality was assured . The two -day event fea tured a 65 -rider entry for the Vintage STRA and AHRMA National Trial o n Saturday, wh ile Sunday featured an early -morn ing Youth tr ial, fo llowed by the Mod ern Bik e tr ia l, with a tota l of 80 entries. Mother Nature pla yed a n ic e April Fools ' j oke on all attendi n g , as the day start ed o ff rather sunny and warm but turned cold and rai ny by midway through the first set of motos. The ra in continued for most of th e day, creating a slimy , soggy endi ng to a great beg inning. One ri d er w ho w as see mi n g ly unaffected by th e c hang ing weather w as D arin " Z- Man" Zaremba , r id in g his Breyley Yamaha -back ed YZ426F. Zaremba l au nc he d hi msel f t o great sta rts all day and wo n m otos in bo th the sunny, dry wea ther an d the co ld and rainy mud. T he fi rst 250cc B moto k ic k ed off before th e r a in s sta r ted . Zaremba zip ped out to an early le ad and was ne ver really challenged a round the serpenti ne , hilly course . D ef e nd in g O ver 30 Nationa l Ch am p ion "Rocket " Robin McClain th umped his KTM 520 around th e course to second pl ac e , and Marc Baumann comp leted the four-stroke podium swee p by putting his own 520cc thumper in third. The second moto was qu ite an other sto ry , as the rains had come and th e c o u rse had b een full y dren ched by this poin t, and m an y ride rs opted no t to ride in th e th ick , greasy mud. R Zaremba also ca m e out on top of th e highly com pe titi ve Over 25 cla ss. His 2-1 moto fin ish es bested the 1-3 sco re of Jay Hershey for the overall. Darren Li nd h took th e wi n in the Over 30 cl ass, wh il e Cu rtis Co lem an m ad e a m o t o sc or e o f 3 -1 wo r k f o r the overa II in th e Over 40 class. In oth er Amateur a ct ion , Zach Ka iser made a suc ces sful winter tra n sition from the C class to 125cc B competition , as the young resident of Strasburg ripped out to the first -mote holeshot. He received constant pressure , how ev er, from Honda r ider Fletcher Sh ryoc k , who at one po int made th e pa ss on Kaiser and left him to battle with third -placed rider T yson Legg ett. Shry ock m ad e a la te - ra ce mi st ake , th ou gh , d ropp ing to thi rd and ha n ding t h e v i ctory to K aiser. The second m oto was later canceled due to th e weather, so the ove rall was th e sam e as the first -mot o sco res. Shryoc k made up for his m ist ak e b y p i c king u p th e w in in t he o ne m oto 125c c Schoo lboy class . Lan c e Fo st er put h is Suzuk i on top in the 125cc C division, and Shawn Rogan 's 2-2 m oto score gave hi m the vi ctory in the 250c c C class. In t h e M in is , Zachar y Knotts p icked up right wh ere he left off last seaso n by sw eeping both m otos in the 50cc (4 -6) division . Knotts is the defending champion of this class and also the defending overall District 12 B ike Champion , with the m ost po ints earn ed for the year. Cody Bail ey put his Cobra out in front for th e o verall in th e Sen ior Pee Wee cla ss, an d Kyl e Ditcher swep t both m oto s of the 6 5c c cla ss over Josh Abrecht and Michael Blaumann.
