Reif gave Brandes a run fo r his money ea rly in the second m o ta after snagg ing t he holeshot. While Brandes quic k ly reeled him in, Reif held h is ground up front for the firs t two laps and had Brandes working hard to make a pass. Reif, in an effort to keep B rand es behind hi m, lo st th e front end a nd w en t down , allowi ng Northrop and Lau ghridge to scoot by . Brandes m ot ored o n for th e win , with No rthrop in to w , w hile Re if c ha sed Laug hrid ge to the checkers. The two ca me across nearly side by side, but it w a s La ughr idge , aboa rd an N Style/Scott/Thor / Al Posey-backed Suzuki, who took third . In the 250cc Interm ediate ranks , Michael Gorda Jr. cam e away w ith the victory after posting a strong 2 -1 score on the day . In fa ct, Gorda had ro o m to spare as ru n ner- u p Turtle Wikoff went 3-5 , beating out Chris Lore do 's 2-6 score , while S imon Temmerman quietly posted fourth overall via a 5 -4 tally . Loredo , who dominated the NorCal class throughout the series , fell in both motos , while SoC al favorite Micky Griffin had a t o ugh time in mota o ne , fin ishin g ni n t h , but came back w it h a wellearned wi n in moto two . Griffin fin ishe d o ut the day in fifth . Lo redo came back in the 125cc Intermedi ate class w ith a solid I-I score over Vin cent Bl air, who finished out the da y second ov erall with a 2 -2 showing . M is sing from th e second moto was N orC al hot sho e Eric McCrummen . After lead ing early in moto one , M cC ru m m en went down and ev entua lly fin ish ed th ird . Bu t a bad crash in th e seco nd Schoo lboy class moto sent t he Yamaha of Modesto ri de r to the hosp it al w ith a broken femur and arm . Robert Harold posted a 4-3 score - good enoug h fo r th ird on th e day - while Gri ffi n (6- 4) followed in fourth. In the much - ant icipated ao cc Superm in i race , a pair o f Am er ic an Honda suppo rt riders - Charli e Morri son and Daniel Sani - took on a pair of Yamaha riders - Joe D ew itt and Cal e Wa ll ac e. Morrison g rabbed the first-m o t o ho leshot, a hea d of San i and Dew itt. Wall ac e suff ere d a less than -st ellar start but quick ly made his way up to t he t ri o . Sani put an aggressive block -pa ss on Morrison to take over the le ad early on . However, Sani later went off th e track , handing the lead and eventua l win to Morri son . San; barely held off Wallace and Dewitt for sec ond . In moto t w o , D ew itt sn a gge d a hug e hol eshot, w h il e t h e same trio followed cl ose behind . Both Morrison and Sani eventually made their wa y by Dewitt and battled the entire mota.
