Buckelew's seventh a lso elim inated any chance he had of winn ing the title . Eig h t h went to Houston winner Travis Preston aboard his Fast by Ferracci Husqvarna. BSY-supported Tyson Hadsell , who was competing in his first Supercross eve nt of the year , took ninth , while Am soil/Dr. Marten 's/ J ourn eys /Competition Accessories Steve Bo n ifa ce rounded out the top 10. somehow manag ed to c a t c h up t o finis h in th e final qu alify ing position in n inth. Then in th e fina l, Fonse c a aga in we nt down in th e whoops while holding the fifth- p lace position , los ing a n u m be r o f p o s iti on s. Lucki ly fo r h im , his bike ne ve r stopped run ning, a nd he was a ble to mou nt a n impress ive cha rge that carried him ba c k up to thi rd . After all that, Fo nse ca got the word th at he did not clinch the 125cc Westem Regiona l Championship, and that he wo uld ha ve to wait another week to hopefully capture his second tit le. Fonseca , while running fifth, went down in th e whoops , which cost him eight places. By th e 10th lap. Langston had a comforta ble seven -second lead on Thain , who h a d seve ral secon ds to spare on Schnell. Tedesco and Preston were next in line , but hot on their re a r fenders wa s a hard-cha rging Fonseca , who was now up to sixth.
