The front trio pulled seve ral lengths over the rem ainder of the field. After halfway. Winsett pressured Mullen to go faster, putting Ubhart a few le ngths back in th ei r closely fought battle. With a lap to go . Winsett tapped Mullen's ABBA Serv ices/B randyw ine Collision Rotax with his fron t tire, but both remained upright and unfazed . MacDowell and J ason Palmer to ok th e lead on the sam e YZ40 0Fs they used in th e 600cc cl ass over Greg Sim. m ers and Long . Aft er waiting for a few laps. Long went into third on th e third lap and into second on th e following la p . Lo ng finally worked up to Mac Dowe ll on the last two laps, but h e couldn' t get b y - until MacDowell leaned a little too m uch enteri ng tu m th ree on Barona Oaks MX Mitchell Menacing at Barona Bv HOMER EUBANKS RAMO NA. CA . APR. I Barona Oaks MX co ntinues to draw mor e riders as word gets out that the tra ck is up and running ag ain . Mitcheil was ab le to k eep Sean Th orn ton at bay in both classes. Feeling he was ready to take on the old Pro, Mitchell then lined up with Ron Lec hien in the Vetera n Expert d ivisio n. Mitcheil. howe ver, found out he wou ld need a litt l e m ore pract i c e b efo re ma tch i ng up against Lec hien aga in. Me ye rs had to settle for seco nd. behi nd J esse Casill as. but Me ye rs ea rned the second spo t after besting Cory Ma com ber' s effort. Th e biggest class of the week end was the the final lap . giving Long th e win, Other Ex pert wins went to Jim Haas in the 500cc class, Mees in the 750cc class , Lowell Wherl ey in th e Ove r 30 class and Steve Heiser A lbert Heredi a m an aged to take the overall after kee ping David Kenla n III at bay in both in the Over 40 class. Josh Standiford took his first win in the wh ile J ustin Morgan bested Jos h King 's effort to take fourth overall . 50 cc Oil -Inj ecte d class. whi le Bailey Spence won the 50cc (4· 6) clas s and Derek Hersh the 50cc (7-8) class, crossing the line side by side in the com bined final. Jo hn Long easily won the 65 cc contest, Jo nathan Jordan took the 8 5cc (1 2 - 15 ) v icto ry and Austin Greenland topped the 8xc (7 - 11) grou p.
