only after some start-line drama. Patterson had crashed while riding with the men in the Open AlB contest, blowing the seat of her pants wide open, and she was a little shaken up. Meanwhile, Wood's YZ250F refused to start. After Team Green made some hasty repairs to Patterson's gear, she climbed aboard her mount just moments before the start. Wood's bike finally fired, much to her relief, and when the gate dropped, Patterson blew into the lead, with Boham in second and Wood a close third. Myers was fourth, with Hudson, Cook and Johnson in tow. Patterson pulled away out front. Wood moved past Boham into second. A serious battle for fourth erupted between Myers and Hudson. Hudson seemed disturbed by Myers' newfound speed and confidence, and she was clearly a little off in the moto, riding hard but making mistakes, while Myers was having the race of her life. Boham was also pressing Hudson. Hudson snatched third from Myers in the back highspeed straightaway. Myers put the hammer down in the rough back section and set up Hudson for an inside pass. Before Myers could slam the door, her bike swapped, treating her to a very nasty windmill get-off in the whoops preceding the comer. Boham was clinging to Hudson's fender; when Hudson crashed a few corners later, Boham went by. Hudson got up and caught and passed Boham in the Magnificent Seven whoop section on the final lap. Patterson took the uncontested win, over Wood. Hudson was third. Boham was fourth, followed by Cook, Johnson and Myers. The start of the first Amateurs moto was an all-out brawl headed into the rain-slickened turn one. Patty Whitehouse appeared to have it under control, but, as she hit the brakes, her bike slid sideways, smacking Danni Russell and sending the pack scattering. Jennifer Squire got the holeshot over Kirsten Raemisch, Whitehouse, Russell, Davis and Hodges. Davis quickly jumped quickly into second, followed by Whitehouse, Raemisch, Russell and Hodges. By lap two, Davis had established herself as the leader. Raemisch moved into second. Hodges planted herself firmly in third, while Whitehouse dropped to fourth. Rounding out the top five was TCRRA champion Sherri Stephens. and Whitehouse battled for second. A few seconds back was another very intense battle, between Russell, Kocher, Loire, Schultz, Pickett, Myers and Squire. Stephens diced back and forth, with Raemisch eventually taking the position. Hodges just couldn't quite make it past Whitehouse. The battle for sixth wouldn't be decided until the final corner. Russell was clinging to a very precarious lead over the rest of the pack. Loire and Kocher tried to push Russell outside in the final turn, but Russell held her line and fended off the challenge. Loire, Kocher, Schultz, Pickett all crossed the line within inches of each other, with Squire and Myers rounding out the class. eN There was a very tight battle for sixth between Russell, Cherissa Lorie, Sheree Schultz, Kimberly Kocher and Amber Pickett, and it wouldn't be decided until the final corner. Meanwhile, Hodges passed Raemisch on the next lap. Stephens passed Whitehouse for fourth. Davis checked out. In the scrap for second, riders swapped positions so often you needed a pocket calculator to keep up with the action. Hodges made a serious error, allowing Raemisch to retake second. Whitehouse passed Stephens in the whoops on the final lap. As the flag came into view, Raemisch charged to Davis' back wheel, but Davis was able to hold her off. Hodges came across the line in third, followed by Whitehouse and Stephens. Russell held on for sixth, with Loire, Kocher, Pickett and Schultz coming across the line a heartbeat behind. Davis absconded with the mototwo holeshot, with Stephens, Raemisch, Hodges, Whitehouse and Russell in tow. Hodges crashed, dropping to the back of the pack. Davis started_ to pull away to seven-second lead. Raemisch, Hodges, Stephens eye I e Mosier Valley lISA Mosier Valley, Texas Results: March 17 -1 B, 2001 (Round 21 125 PRO: 1.
