It didn't look as though a Hart win would be possible early on, though. He had defied wisdom by sticking with convention on the tight, dry TT circuit, choosing to go into battle with a typical, dirt-track-style TT machine while many riders, including reigning West Coast Flat Track Series Champion Ronnie Brown, had begged off their standard equipment in favor of motocross-based machinery. As the night played out - in front of an unusually light crowd - it seemed as though the tight right- and left-hand turns that were laid out over a dry and dusty infield would play right into the hands of the riders who chose motocross bikes/setups. With the. stage set in the IS-lap Open Pro class, most in attendance were expecting Brown to walk away with an easy victory. The thing is, somebody forgot to tell Hart that he wasn't supposed to win, because win he did, earning his second career WCFTS victory in a most dominant fashion.
