f2 ,~% 1~%Ila; iiItriJ tdl In moto one, Weatherholt led the pack through tum one. Victor Edgar was second, with Dave Miller and Bill Vann in hot pursuit. Weatherholt opened up a good lead on Edgar, who was putting some room between himself and Miller, who had his hands full with Vann. Miller bobbled, allowing Vann to move into third. Vann then set his sights on Edgar. Weatherholt opened up a comfortable lead and took an easy win. By the beginning of the last lap, Vann had pushed his way up to Edgar's rear fender and was looking to make the pass. Vann found the opportunity back in the black-dirt section and took the runner·up spot. Edgar held on to third, with Miller fourth and Wendell Penrod fifth. In moto two, Edgar went through tum one in a full-lock broad slide. Edgar's glory lasted less than a lap; as the pack reappeared from the back section, Weatherholt was out front again. Weatherholt opened up a lead that he carried to the checkered flag. The race for second was a good one; Vann gated in third this Vintage Pro/Am Championships _mmmm _ ... brought to you by -.. time and was soon pressuring Edgar. Vann used every trick in the book, but Edgar held tough for the first 3 1/2 laps. As the two headed down the long, fast straightaway, Edgar got sideways off a jump, and Vann took second. Edgar was third. Miller and Penrod rounded out the top five after a moto·long battle. Leading the 22-rider 85cc (7-11) pack through turn one was Ohio rider Greg Durivage, with Joel Jager, Nathan Ciszewski, Brent Brown, Billy Larsen and Blake Wickerham in tow. Brown moved around Jager into second with a great move in the hjgh-speed wooded section. By the end of lap three, Brad Kiester had moved from 10th to fifth. Durivage held off Brown till the end, but not without a fight. Third went to Ciszewski, who made a last-lap pass on Jager by outbraking him at the end of the world's longest tabletop, and Kiester was back in fifth, hoping for a better start in moto two. In the second moto, Ciszewski was out front as the pack broke around tum one. fol· lowed by Durivage, Kiester, Wickerham and Brett Wagner. Before the opening lap was half over, Durivage was out front, working hard to keep the number plate on the front of his Suzuki clean. As the top four riders remained steady. Brown went upside down on lap one, then fought his way past Wickerham to move into the top five. Durivage held the lead by halfway and held it to the checkered flag, leaving Ciszewski to ride in a lonely second and Kiester an equally lonely third. Brown worked his way up to Wagner with less than a lap to go, but Wagner crossed the line in fourth, with Brown earning fifth. Results P/W (4.6) SHAFT: 1. Ale)! G. Ditton (Yom); 2.
